I liked this quote
All the additional labor serves luxury and wealth, in contrast to the original labor that served the necessities of life.”

One of the earliest recorded treatises on economic expansion was written by Arabian philosopher Ibn Khaldun in 1377:

“When civilization [population] increases, the available labor again increases. In turn, luxury again increases in correspondence with the increasing profit, and the customs and needs of luxury increase. Crafts are created to obtain luxury products. The value realized from them increases, and, as a result, profits are again multiplied in the town. Production there is thriving even more than before ... All the additional labor serves luxury and wealth, in contrast to the original labor that served the necessities of life.”

So what do we do when population growth is no longer sustainable?

We must create new systems for distributing value and maintaining prosperity for a stable human population. But we’ve never had to do that before. Maintaining prosperity in a stable population will require new tools.

December 18, 2011, 10:55 pmThis got my interest in the republican presidental ticket again

I was starting to lose interest in the campaign. I think her and Santorum would make a good team. Not enough focus on Santorum in this race.

I really do not want to see her ruin her career by her choice to be VP under. She is a better candidate to be president. I liked her when she was secretary of state and still like her.

this article on Newt has a lot of fun filled facts too.

http://www.newswithviews.com/Devvy/kidd450.htm

Nationalizing Law Enforcement. On October 22, 1991, Gingrich voted for an amendment to the federal crime bill offered by Rep. David McCurdy (D-OK) to establish a National Police Corps. Although he didn't vote for the $30-billion Clinton crime bill of 1994, he resurrected it and helped make passage possible. As Rep. Susan Molinari (R-NY), one of Newt's cheerleaders, explained to Michael Kinsley on CNN's Crossfire, "If it wasn't for Newt Gingrich, you wouldn't have a crime bill."

December 15, 2011, 11:32 amIt's your world. Pull up the popcorn, a long video

A few notes I took

check the 48 minute mark to 50 minute mark

There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation.
One is by the sword. The other is by debt.

1:00:00 mark
We can either have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.

December 11, 2011, 10:55 amAbout this occupy movement

Just finished reading a couple articles about the OWS movement. Quite informative.

Was able to find a site of one of the movements. Gave me an inside look at what this particular movement is about. Much nicer to read for yourself what goes on inside a movement than what a reporter feeds you.

Read for yourself right here.

December 6, 2011, 11:40 pmLets compare speech content [political]

Sound familiar with speeches we have been hearing about the role of gov't in the past few years.

speech by Roosevelt Osawatomie, Kansas - August 31, 1910.

http://www.emersonkent.com/speeches/the_new_nationalism.htm
an excerpt;
The American people are right in demanding that New Nationalism, without which we cannot hope to deal with new problems. The New Nationalism puts the national need before sectional or personal advantage. It is impatient of the utter confusion that results from local legislatures attempting to treat national issues as local issues. It is still more impatient of the impotence which springs from over-division of governmental powers, the impotence which makes it possible for local selfishness or for legal cunning, hired by wealthy special interests, to bring national activities to a deadlock. This New Nationalism regards the executive power as the steward of the public welfare. It demands of the judiciary that it shall be interested primarily in human welfare rather than in property, just as it demands that the representative body shall represent all the people rather than any one class or section of the people.
