Home Grown Terrorists

Is Right Wing Extremism the Biggest Danger Facing America?

Posted: 09/06/2015

"There's an acceptance now of the idea that the threat from jihadi terrorism in the United States has been overblown. And there's a belief that the threat of right-wing, anti-government violence has been underestimated." John G. Horgan, former Director of Terrorism and Security Studies , University of Massachusetts at Lowell

A Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington state was set on fire over the weekend. Officials determined the cause of the fire was arson.

The fire follows a a series of videos released by anti-abortion activists appearing to show Planned Parenthood executives boasting of profits made from the sale of fetal tissue. The videos were later found to be "deceptively edited" by an independent investigator.

Accordingly, such extreme right groups have carried out more acts of terror in the United States than have Islamic militants. According to the New York Times:

Since Sept. 11, 2001, nearly twice as many people have been killed by white supremacists, anti-government fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims: 48 have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim, including the recent mass killing in Charleston, S.C., compared with 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists, according to a count by New America, a Washington research center.

Non-Muslim extremists have carried out 19 such attacks since Sept. 11, according to the latest count, compiled by David Sterman, a New America program associate, and overseen by Peter Bergen, a terrorism expert. By comparison, seven lethal attacks by Islamic militants have taken place in the same period.

In fact, just after President Obama took office, a Department of Homeland Security report recognized that the combination of a tanking economy together with the election of America's first African-American president might trigger right-wing violence. The report was later withdrawn, given the headwinds of conservative criticism. Again, according to the New York Times article: "Its main author, Daryl Johnson, later accused the department of "gutting" its staffing for such research."

The sovereign citizen movement, a far right group which number as many as 300,000 and claims not to recognize the authority of federal or local government, is recognized by the FBI as the "nation's top domestic terrorism threat. " The group, like many on the extreme right, shares a "fear that government will confiscate firearms" and a nihilistic "belief in the approaching collapse of government and the economy."

Cliven Bundy, notorious for his armed confrontation with law enforcement officials which arose over grazing rights for his cattle on federal land after his refusal to pay grazing fees. is said to share a common ideology with this movement. As does Bundy, movement members consider "the county sheriff to be the most powerful law enforcement official in the country, with authority superior to that of any federal agent, local law-enforcement agency or any other elected official." Afterremarking to the effect that "the Negro" would be better off as slaves than under government subsidies, Bundy was later condemned by former allies on the right who included "conservative politicians and talk show hosts," for example, right-wing bloviatorSean Hannity.

Such statistics are alarming and perhaps gaining enough critical mass that they can no longer be suppressed by conservative politicians as evidence of some left-wing bias in the press. The documentation of the havoc raised by these groups on the extreme right raises questions about the militarization of our police forces across the country, racial profiling by law enforcement, and a media timidity that may result in the under-reporting of violence perpetrated by right-wing extremists given fears of being tagged with having a "liberal bias."

Finally, the right-wing media itself should act responsibly by refraining from promoting such anti-government zealots, as Bundy, as heroes before later abandoning them after the inevitable racial statements are voiced. After all, it is clear from the beginning where their sentiments lie.

Trump Mania seems to be among certain Repubs

Stunning new poll shows Donald Trump in surprisingly good position against Hillary Clinton

Business Insider
By Colin Campbell

A new poll out Wednesday found that real-estate mogul Donald Trump is only 6 points behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a theoretical general-election matchup.

According to the CNN/ORC survey, the Democratic front-runner leads Trump just 51% to 45% among registered voters.

If the poll is accurate, it represents a sharp improvement for Trump. Though Trump has surged to the front of the GOP field, polls have previously found him lagging in general-election matchups.

A CNN/ORC survey in June, for example, found that Clinton would crush Trump 59% to 34% — by 25 points — in the hypothetical matchup. And while his 16-point deficit in July was a notable improvement, it still would represent a wide margin of defeat:

It's not clear what is specifically driving Trump's recent improvement against Clinton, though she has been battered by a slew of negative headlines in recent months, especially regarding her email use at the State Department. Trump, apparently buoyed by various controversies, has also had a near monopoly of presidential media coverage.

But the CNN poll does show where Trump is drawing much of his support: white men. The survey found that Trump led Clinton among white voters by 55% to 41%, and among men by 53% to 42%. In contrast, Clinton was ahead among women by 60% to 37% while dominating among nonwhite voters by 71% to 24%.

Trump also did a bit better among voters who didn't go to college (he led 48% to 47%) and those who make $50,000 or more (he trailed 49% to 48%).

The other GOP presidential candidates didn't fare much better than Trump against Clinton, either. The poll found that Clinton led former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida by 9 points and Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin by 6 points, similar to her margin against Trump.

Of course, the 2016 general election is still a long way out; the first primary voters don't even start to weigh in until February. A Clinton campaign spokesman, Jesse Ferguson, responded to the CNN poll by pointing out this fact:

I want to be a Republican, but...

MARK CUBAN: I want to be a Republican, but the party has one big problem

Business Insider
By Colin Campbell

In a post on his Cyber Dust social-media app, the outspoken billionaire investor wrote that he would prefer to join the GOP but had an issue with the party's push for conformity.

"I would prefer to be a Republican," Cuban wrote in the post, which was flagged by The Dallas Morning News. "I want smaller government. I want smarter government. Just like most Republicans. Put aside that I disagree with Republicans on most social issues. The Republicans have a much bigger problem that will crush them in every presidential election until this changes."

Cuban lamented that those who disagree with the "consensus" were called fake Republicans.

"The Republican Party requires that all their presidential candidates conform to consensus," he said. "If you don't agree with every platform of the party, not only are you called a RINO, a 'Republican in Name Only.' You are considered unelectable in primaries and become a source of scorn on Fox News. That's a problem."

The "Shark Tank" star's desire to avoid party orthodoxy could be related to his recent praise for real-estate mogul Donald Trump, whom he hailed as "the best thing to happen" to politics in a long time. Indeed, Cuban even told Business Insider he would consider being Trump's vice president if asked, though he said he would probably decline the hypothetical offer.

In his Tuesday Cyber Dust post, Cuban also reflected on the meaning of leadership:

Leaders don't conform to the consensus. They create consensus to their vision and goals.

Leaders don't change their positions mid debate. They welcome scorn from the masses because it creates the opportunity for dialogue.

Leaders don't look backwards to condemn what has already been done, they look forward to create a better future.

Leaders are not dogmatic. They are principled and know that change is never easy, but when it's necessary, they must lead.

The Republican Party does everything possible to discourage leadership.

They want dogma.

They want conformity.

They want to conserve their romanticized past.

That's a shame. I wish they wanted to conserve the best of what America is today and find a leader that can take us to new places that make our future better.

I realize that's not the way politics work in this day and age. And that just proves the point.

"And btw, I know a lot of the same can be said about the Democrats, but I don't want to be a Democrat," he concluded. "Until things change, I'll sit in the middle and think for myself. Unlike the Republicans."

Antagonistic Trolls: Part 6

Comment by lejardin - Today, 4:18 pm

I would not be surprised to find that Lilsleazy and LL are one and the same. Everything from him was "stfub" etc. And the best one was "stop trying to get to know me". Like that stood a snowballs chance of happening. For me and a few other posters it was just fun to light his $%& up and see him go off, didn't take much. The troll is a redundant horses rear who contributes nothing and is a boring waste of time.
First of all, you bigots look for me because I'm in your head. You on the otherhand is just a dumb and stupid bitch who don't know who in the hell they are f-ing with. You thought you could  bring your Johnny come lately AZZ to the LP and be one of the boys...they only accepted your azz because you gave up your freedom of expression in  order to be liked by them. That is where you messed up. They may hate me but they know I could care less. You got to be stupid if you think LL and I is the same person. Just as you bigots are not the same, the same goes for LL and I. Look at the profiles dummy.

It is a smelly troll,....it lives to incite human beings, it has no soul, it has no moral compass, it merely exists to comment on the head troll's blog. Ever wonder why the head troll doesn't comment???? I don't, because it simply wants to have the most posts, views, and trolls.   The smelly troll believes humans care about the drivel it writes....... we don't. Don't feed the trolls.

Reddog, just consider the source. He and his clandestine troupe. I wouldn't take anything seriously from him or the back door bell. If you let someone like him get under your skin, you make yourself out to be NO better than them...!

First is you reddog. You are so caught up in your lies until you can't remember what you have said. Those that know me on the Lp knows that I am a veteran, a retired teacher, a no nonsense person, and can handle myself. You on the otherhand, has mental issues that you are not addressing. You make statements that you can't possibly back-up and expect someone to agree with your dumb ass. It is not my fault you didn't get a good education so quit being jealous of mine. Also FOOL SAD means not happy. Your preverted meaning is yours and jarasan alone. You two are the perverted ones. All one has to do is view past posts. Both of you are immature males that have the mind of a teenager going through puberty.

Now for you jarasan. You are a cry-baby and a snitch punk-bitch. You have the audacity to try and tell Truesee how to run her blog, while you have one no one pays attention to. Just look at your last two illogical posts. You talk about Truesee, yet you copy and paste her. What a hypocrite and a dummy.

Finally, maddog. You're just a frustrated bigot that likes to bitch and have hissy fits when things don't go your punk-ass way. You are the leader of lies and jealousy. You are closed-minded and does not posess higher order thinking. You were use to being a bully on the LP until you came in contact with me. Everything that you and your imps have tried on me, FAILED. WHY? You met a real man that is not afraid of anyone that's behind a computer sceen or any place else. I can Talk the Talk, and Walk the Walk.

Antagonistic Trolls: Part 4

Normally I would ignore you Silly, but since you referred to me on Jarasan’s very illogical blog by referring to me as Antagonists Trolls: Part 7... I said, what the hey, let me respond since you Antagonist Trolls can’t seem to get me out of your head. Silly in a sad attempt to annoy me you made an AZZ out of yourself once again. Let me give you a little background about Hank, you know the one you referred to as a dummy.

Prior to taking his seat in Congress in 2006, Rep. Johnson practiced criminal defense law in Georgia for twenty-seven (27) years. He served twelve (12) years as a magistrate judge, and five (5) years as a county commissioner. Rep. Johnson is married to Attorney Mereda Davis Johnson and has two adult children. BTW, his wife has been elected county commissioner.

Let’s see you called Hank a dummy, right. Let’s see he was a criminal defense attorney for 27 years; 12 years as a magistrate judge; 5 years as a county commissioner, and is presently serving as congressman for the fourth district of Georgia. Now what have you done to compare to this dummy? I thought so! IDIOT.

CT, you may have to get the head troll to interpret for you. I can interpret some BS, but not all.
This is what I am talking about. Carbo is a prime example of an ANTAGONISTIC TROLL. He is a BIGOT that is not happy unless he provokes MINORITIES. Coin Toss does the same thing. Both are IDIOTS that lack intelligence.

Things I trust more than Hillary 7/19 statements is Coin Toss’s sarcasm of a Black

Coin Toss's Blogshows the racist side of certain LP members as they make fun of Blacks in general. Out of 19 comments 7 of them are anti-Black. Well Coin Toss, you racist , everyone knows how you and your friends feel about Blacks. Your writing about Hillary was just a guise to show your TRUE FEELINGGS. Bigots/Bigets that play together, stay together. SAD,SAD,SAD … I was right about you bigots from the beginning.

tiparker119's Blog: This Video Will Give You Chills...!! Here you will see the same bigots saying Amen to an Uncle Tom, not because they like him, but because he is saying what their racist ears want to hear about the POTUS who happens to be Black. They praise this veteran and is silent about what Trump said about McCain. THEIR HATE IS DEEP! ONLY GOD IS ABLE TO REMOVE THAT KIND OF HATE. This is generational HATE, the worst kind. It’s in their DNA to hate people of color, or people that disagree with their agenda…be it republican or Democrat. Their hate will cause them to suffer many pitfalls and disappointments in life.
