Govt. Healthcare.

What is Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA Health System?   Do young, healthy, people that don't need healthcare or want to pay for it,  pay involuntarily?  What about dental and eyecare?

If the govt. gets involved anymore in the healthcare business it'll be a bottomless pit for money thrown away.

The panacea of a nationalized electronic medical record (EMR) is a hoax to create further depedence on govt. and have the govt. making healthcare decisions for people.

The EMR technological hurdle, to achieve, is infinite,  another huge agency will have to be created.  What if you lose your EMR and someone uses it for nefarious purposes.  Compliance by healthcare providers will drain resources and increase costs, legal battles will ensue.  What will happen to the insurers and HMO's?

HIPAA kills, that is the last big idea to come out of congress.

To give you an idea, you ever hear of Social Security?  Do you know that the SS system databases are on archaic systems that cannot be migrated via. electronic means?  In other words the data of all USAmericans would have to be keyed manually to update the systems used by SS!  They can't do it, it would take 25 years of 10,000 people typing continuosly to achieve a manual update! Never going to happen.  SS maintains COBOL programmers, ever hear of COBOL?

Now imagine trying to have the govt. manage the nations medical records!  The govt. should remain involved as a payer only for Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA health system and let the doctors and hospitals take care of those who need healthcare and those who want it.

Five easy pieces.

It looks like 45 states are not in a mortgage mess.  Five states are in a (higher than normal foreclosure rate) mortgage mess and we are paying the price.  No biggie, just that, as usual, the big lie is that this is a national "CRISIS", it isn't, it is a 5 state problem,  we are being lied to continuosly.  The mortgage $75 Billion bailout doesn't help all Americans in trouble, it only "HELPS" a segment in a certain class of mortgage holders, in certain areas, with prejudice.  And the "HELP" is down the road several months

The perpetuation of this exaggerated economic recession is starting to be exposed,  spread the word.  Things will be getting better soon, let's see who takes credit.

Wow some of the states Governers are saying no to the spending!

Yes I would be stressed, this is from Huffington.

Psychological stimulus.

I can't believe what I just heard a talking head say.  She said that the $13.00 or so dollars extra we will be getting in our pay chex (for those of us that make less than $95K/year) starting April 1st (April Fools Day!) is not necessarily for any other purpose, than to give us a "PSYCHOLOGICAL" stimulus, you know to make us believe things are getting better.  What a bunch of hooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that is the case then, why in the France does this administration keep telling us we are in the crisis of "all time" repeatedly.  That kind of talk is totally a downer and or, lie,  to manipulate us into "COMMUNISM" I mean really why fool around with socialism, pass go, straight to dissolving the Constitution.

Now, we have the POTUS telling us that he wants to reduce the deficit by half by the end of his first term!

In May 2008 when the current POTUS was the defacto Dem. nominee, the DOW was over 13,000, now it is well under 8,000.  I don't care if you blame Washington, Lincoln, or Bush for the current situation,  but I tell you what,  this POTUS and his administration are inspiring no confidence, even Bill Clinton said so.

I told you so.  Seat of the pants, no experience, Clintonites, broken promises, secrecy, tax cheats, are you happy now?

Imagine for just a moment, Mitt Romney as POTUS, a proven business and political  leader that knows how to make hard choices, I guarantee things would be quite different.  I bet even world economics would  have been better, woulda coulda shoulda.....................

From Wikipedia, it looks correct.

Romney was sworn in as the 70th governor of Massachusetts on January 2, 2003. Upon entering office, Romney faced a projected $3 billion deficit, but a previously enacted $1.3 billion capital gains tax increase and $500 million in unanticipated federal grants decreased the deficit to $1.2 billion.[46] Through a combination of spending cuts, increased fees, and removal of corporate tax loopholes, by 2006 the state had a $700 million surplus and was able to cut taxes.[47][48]

Romney supported raising various fees by more than $300 million, including raising fees for driver's licenses, marriage licenses, and gun licenses.[48] Romney increased the state gasoline tax by 2 cents per gallon, generating about $60 million per year in additional tax revenue.[49] Romney also closed tax loopholes that brought in another $181 million from businesses over the next two years.[49] The state legislature, with Romney's support, also cut spending by $1.6 billion, including $700 million in reductions in state aid to cities and towns.[50] The cuts also included a $140 million reduction in state funding for higher education, which led state-run colleges and universities to increase tuition by 63%.[49] Romney sought additional cuts in his last year as Massachusetts governor by vetoing nearly 250 items in the state budget. All of those vetoes were overturned by the legislature.[51]

The combined state and local tax burden in Massachusetts increased during Romney's governorship.[49] According to the Tax Foundation, that per capita burden was 9.8% in 2002 (below the national average of 10.3%), and 10.5% in 2006 (below the national average of 10.8%).[52]

Doctors and Guns.

Doctors vs. Gun Owners

Doctors:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians  per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171 (.17%).

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes,        that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is

        .000188.

 Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

"The Difference"

WOW, Judd Gregg sec. of commerce nominee,  withdraws from accepting appointment to be the Secretary of Commerce. The white house will be doing the census (a commerce dept. job), ridiculous partisanship beyond reason,  Rahm Emanuel will be doing the census,  that sure is great change,  new politics, what?

The difference is: Gregg (a republican) I believe,  withdrew because of policy differences not tax evasion or some other legal issue like Richardson, Daschle, etc..

Gregg did the right thing.  Now if Specter, Collins, and Snow would do the right thing...............................

"Greed" by Milton Freidman

Here you have the teacher and the students.   Milton Friedman is speaking self evident historical truths and there you have Phil Donohue deer in the headlights stare thinking so hard trying to retort but fails miserably.   Phil Donohue's reaction is very relevant to the situation we are in today.  Phil is like so many today, who no matter what empirical evidence is presented to them,  they refuse to believe they could be wrong even if their argument has no basis. A perfect example is the Tim Geitner appointment,  only this guy could be Treasury Secretary,  everybody knew this guy was a tax cheat, idiot, whatever,  they all went along.   Every time this has happened I am reminded of the fable of the King's new clothes.

Enjoy. It is only 2:24 minutes.

Volcanoes VS. man made global warming.

Volcanoes win hands down, whether we are in the match or not.  The first link is what caused the Permian extinction and the second is what is occuring RIGHT NOW under Yellowstone.  "Volcanic rock spread over an area the size of Alaska."  Humbling stuff.

Alaska Mt. Redoubt.

Lets see how Alaska responds to a volcanic eruption.  The self reliant people of Alaska are getting ready, no help from the FEDS.  This volcano will effect (as I have said often) the weather patterns more than mankind or Al Gore's hot air could ever imagine.  Not a thing mankind can do to stop this, more CO2, SO2, ash etc. will be released into the atmosphere than mankind produces in hundreds of years.  And guess what?  It WILL cause global cooling by blanketing the Sun's rays.  Don't even think we can mess with Mother Nature,  I wonder if anyone will blame Obama for causing the eruption like they blamed Bush for Katrina.

Food for thought.

Food for thought.   There are always ways to play with numbers to make a point.  However, this  one got my attention.  I can only dream.

"The Proposal"

Whena company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems tohappen is they reduce their staff and workers.  The remainingworkers need to find ways to continue to do a good job or risk thattheir job would be eliminated as well.  Wall  Street, and the medianormally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "toughdecision", and his board of directors gives him a big bonus .

Our government should not be immune from similar risks.

Therefore: Reduce the  House of Representatives from the current  435  members to 218 members and Senate members from  100 to 50  (one per State). Also reduce remaining staff by 25%.

Accomplish this over the next 8 years. (two steps / two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting.

SomeYearly Monetary Gains Include:

$44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay /member / yr.)

$97,175,000 for elimination of the above people's staff. (estimate $1.3Million in staff per each member of the House, and $3 Million instaff per each member of the Senate every year)

$240,294 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%.

$7,500,000,000reduction in  pork barrel  ear-marks  each year. (those memberswhose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government porkearmarks are at $15Billion / yr )

The remaining representatives would need to work  smarter and would needto improve   efficiencies.    It  might even be in their bestinterests to work together for the good of ourcountry?

Wemay also expect that smaller committees might lead to a moreefficient  resolution of issues as well.   It might evenbe easier to keep track of what your representative is doing.

Congresshas more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current  number of representatives  was established.(telephone, computers, cell phones to name a few)

Note:

Congressdid not hesitate to head home when it was a holiday, when the nation needed a real fix to the economic problems.   Also, we have 3senators that have not been doing their jobs for the past 18+months (on  the campaign trail) and still they all have beenaccepting full pay.  These facts alone support a reduction insenators  &  congress.

Summary of  opportunity:

$44,108,400 reduction of congress members.

$282,100,000 for elimination of the reduced house member  staff.

$150,000,000 for elimination of reduced senate member staff.

$59,675,000   for 25% reduction of staff for remaining house members.

$37,500,000   for 25% reduction of staff for remaining senate members.

$7,500,000,000  reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of congress members.

$8,073,383,400 per year , estimated total savings.  (that's 8-BILLION just to start!)

Big business does these types of cuts all the time.

If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years  (likeeveryone else) in order to collect retirement benefits there is notelling how much we would save.  Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term .

IF you are happy how the Congress spends our taxes, well........ IF you are NOT at all happy, then I assume you know whatto do.

P.S. Daschle is going to pay his taxes.

Thomas Jefferson.

THOMAS JEFFERSON

John Kennedy once said to a assembled group of scholars, (49 nobel laureates) in the 1962 White House    “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House - with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone"   JFK would be considered a right winger today.

The Thomas Jefferson quotes below could prove his point.   His words have come to pass.................

I believe an interesting point is that he speaks of history as being a teacher.  Back then there already was HISTORY, history not rewritten to serve a purpose or foster a cause but history to learn from and to not repeat the same mistakes of the past.

“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.”

”The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. ”

”It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world. ”

”I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

”My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”

”No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”

”The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

”The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

Very Interesting Quote :

In light of the present financial crisis, it's  interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in  1802 :

'I believe that banking institutions are   more dangerous to our liberties   than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Adrian Rodgers Quote.

Remember you're considered "rich" if you pay taxes.

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
