My Body Is Sore!

Published:

I started work at 8:00 a.m. this morning. I'm temporarily doing merchandising for a store with other people. We have to put shelves up at a certain height, also taking products off the shelves and moving them over onto the shelves. Because they are renovating the store. Also putting pricing up. There is alot of standing and walking. It takes it's toll on you mentally and physically..

I want to quit the job but will wait till I find a better job. And one that is not physically hard I hope..

I have to rub my legs with linament and cream for the soreness. And I soak my feet as well.

That is my exciting life. Not!..

I have a similar problem that is not going away. My sciatic nerve is bothering me big time.

It used to just hang around for a few weeks, but just dosen't seeem to want o go away. This is the first time this is happening.

I found a guy not too far from me who has a concoction that's beeen working for him for the past 10 years. I hope it works for me too, because I really don't like taking 8 bayers a day.

Pac...I had the same problem and a chiropractor worked it out for me. It's been a chronic thing, but episodes are now years apart.

Elizabeth, one thing I learned when I started to work in stores is that your body needs time to adjust if you haven't worked those muscles. I know it's not the same as a sport, but I remember when I used to go skiing and the first time was the roughest on my legs. When I was working at a desk for months and then went back to working on my feet all day, my back was so stiff I'd get "stuck." I mean, I suddenly couldn't move! After daily exercise, I slowly adjusted to the pace. I wonder if that's what you are experiencing. I worked 2 days in a store a few months ago and had to leave because I couldn't get out of bed on Wednesday. I think I'm a bit older than you, however. Yet when I worked 9 hours a day for a long time, I got used to it.   I had a bad accident in the 80s and was in the hospital for a very long time, so I understand what sciatica is, since I have it 24/7. The economy is very tough and I see men & women in their 70s stocking shelves at the market, so hang in there and think of that paycheck! Don't be stupid like I was when I often gave up too soon. I hope you don't think I'm trivializing your dilemma, but if you are in debt as you've written before, you might want to hang on for a while. Do they let you talk to the other people while you're working? Laughter and some good conversation can make a day go by a lot faster. Good luck.
