Oregon Lottery: One ticket scoops $30 million Oregon MegabucksThe jackpot is a record in Oregon's Megabucks game
One lucky person won the $30 million jackpot Monday in the Oregon Lottery's Megabucks game, the largest single Lottery award in state history.
The winning ticket had not been claimed at press time, nor was it known where the ticket was purchased.
The jackpot eclipsed the previous high of $23 million won in July 1991. The last Megabucks jackpot was won April 12, when a $15.6 million prize was awarded. The Oregon Lottery has featured the Megabucks game for 19 years.
Cindy Uselman, a clerk at the 7-Eleven on Broadway and Pine Street NE, learned that someone in the state became richer when she saw the $30 million jackpot figure plummet to $1 million.
"As soon as I saw it went down, I knew somebody had won," she said. "I think the crowds will die down now."
"I was hoping I'd collect it so I could retire," said Uselman, who watched the jackpot grow during the past months. But she didn't buy any tickets for Monday's drawing.
Lottery spokeswoman Leslie Hale said 25 tickets bearing five of the six winning numbers were sold. Those are worth $929.40 apiece when redeemed at the Lottery's office in Salem, in person or by mail.
Hale said 1,558 tickets bearing four winning numbers were sold, good for $40.40 each at any Megabucks dealer.
The winning numbers in the drawing were: 7-16-21-22-24-43.
Sales since the last draw were $846,862.
The estimated jackpot will be $1 million for Wednesday's drawing.
