Powerball lottery fever hits the USA

Powerball Powerball: Powerball lottery fever hits the USA

Jackpot hits record $340 million for Wednesday

The Powerball jackpot will be the most ever for the multi-state lottery game after no one won Saturday night.

The estimated $305 million jackpot Saturday went unclaimed, pushing the jackpot to an estimated $340 million for Wednesday's drawing.

It is the biggest jackpot in the game's history and eclipses the previous record high of $314.9 million won on Christmas Day 2002 by a West Virginia man.

Joe Hrdlicka, a spokesman for the Iowa Lottery, said lottery officials are anticipating a rush for ticket sales as the Wednesday drawing nears.

He said more than 60 percent of Powerball tickets are sold on the day of the drawing, creating long, last-minute lines.

"We encourage people to get them as early as possible to avoid any delays," he said.

In addition, online sales at Prime Ticket Service is expected to end possibly a day early due to sales volume.

Powerball is played in 27 states, including North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota, along with the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The jackpot has been growing since mid-August, and 20 drawings have passed without a jackpot being won.

In Saturday night's drawing, 21 lucky players from across the country matched all five white numbers without the red Powerball to win $200,000.

The cash option for Wednesday night's drawing will be an estimated $164.4 million.

Every time the jackpot reaches an incomprehensible number, I start dreaming of the impossible, and how to get closer to it. I keep a shortcut to the links that list those things I would never have a possibility of achieving - without the B-I-G bucks:

American Express Black Centurion Card:

Marquis Jet Card Program:

Part of the fun is the what if..................... I think it is great that those who wish to can dream.....................  When I was younger I too would dream of what I might do with B.I.G Bucks................. Now I just would be happy to be able to have a modest home in a warmer climate and maybe a newer Vehicle............... Do I have any expectations? No not really.............. but I still play............... After all hope springs eternal................... Good Luck to all that play and dream

I don;t think that American Express issues out the black card anymore.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

Bummer - just when I was about to became eligible. What's Martha using, VISA? I already have a VISA Check Card, I wonder how it works with a $165M cap on it.

The web shows that the American Express Centurion is still in use, a review dated in Spetember comments on it: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews56231.html

It if you look it up on the AmEx site, you will not find it as an option. It is by invitation only.

http://www.epinions.com/content_32931286660

How do you acquire a Centurion card? First, apply for an AMEX Platinum card, if you don't already have one. Then use it frequently, especially for any travel that you book and for any expensive purchases that you make. Above all, pay ALL your bills on time. Then be patient. Don't call them. They'll call you. Actually, you'll receive an invitation in the mail if you're lucky. The AMEX Centurion Card is by invitation only. Don't worry. If you're offered one, it means you CAN afford it.

With $165M plus, I can afford it - and I will ask for it. Betcha they offer one in a hurry! I don't see AmEx turning down a chance at a piece of the pie. A million dollar deposit should ensure my card being hand delivered that very day.

Cheers

I hope the jackpot rolls over and breaks the North American jackpot record holder of 363 millions set by Mega Millions [formely The Big Game]. Lots of people are going to gamble with the largest jackpot in PB history.

You realize that if it rolls on Wendsday that the pot will be 365 but still below the record thanks to Powerballs inflated annuity. The cash prize will be around 176 million which may only place it as the third largest unless it's more than 176.7 million. The only record Powerball seems intrested in is the largest second prize.

I like Power ball because of the PP option so I do play it more than MM at least those in Texas have a choice.

Nothing personal, but I don't want to share MY millions with a stranger. Never had the opportunity to give away millions of dollars, but instinct tells me it would not make my day!

I don't think I would mind sharing such a large pot at all.  I mean that's a lot of money and I certainly would find a way to spend it in whole or in part.  My brother is a truck driver and I've instructed him to purchase a ticket in every little remote town he passes through over the next few days.

Got my fingers crossed that we win!

Hi,

When the jackpot is such large ....I wish it will split to at least two person ( even it is me!).

One winner with the whole bag like this is "not wrong" but it's a pain for the rest ...I think!!Disapprove
