Massachusetts Lottery

Today the Massachusetts State Lottery adds a second daily drawing of the Numbers game in a move that's projected to generate $7 million annually for cities and towns.

Starting today, June 9, the midday draw will take place at 12:55 p.m., in addition to the established nightly draw at about 7 p.m.

Lottery spokesman Dan Rosenfeld said players have asked for two drawings to increase their chances to make money.

The lottery projects the extra drawing will generate $27 million in sales, including $7 million for cities and towns.

Every New England state except Rhode Island will now draw numbers more than once a day.

The move is the latest attempt by the lottery to boost sales after a down year in 2007.

The state recently released a $20 ticket that offers $1 billion in prizes.

Lottery Post players can post midday predictions for the Numbers game immediately.

Midday results for the Numbers game will be available within minutes of the drawing on the Massachusetts Lottery Results page at www.lotterypost.com/results/ma.

Massachusetts lottery results, and all other lottery results from the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom, are available directly on the desktop of any Windows Vista user by downloading the free Lottery Results Gadget for Windows Vista, located at www.lotterypost.com/gadget.

Awesome. The best keeps getting better.

You only need one ticket to win. But you'll win more with one hundred.

What players? Has anyone ever heard anyone ask for it? I haven't in the past 25 years.

This just happened in Florida.  I guess all the states are trying to add a little more to their annual budgets.
