Apple Juice Thread
Yesterday someone started a thread about toxic apple juice in the lottery discussion, so I'd like to make a comment on this matter. I am unaware of this problem, so I'm curious where that story originated.
I was in the food packaging business for over 20 years and visited several large juice manufacturers. So to briefly give you my Reader's Digest version of juice processing..
First Mother Nature grows her apples on our lovely trees and the grower...

Stages of Hangover
* 1-star hangover
No pain. No real feeling of illness. You sleep in your own bed and when you wake up, there are no traffic cones in there with you.
You are still able to function relatively well on the energy stored up from all those vodka and Red Bulls. However, you can drink 10 bottles of water and still feel as parched as the Sahara.
Even vegetarians crave a cheeseburger and a basket of fries.
** 2-star hangover
No pain, but something is definitely amiss. You...

Carrying friend in body bag haunts soldier
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. Army Spc. Gerald Lee Meeks says all he wanted in Iraq was to keep everybody alive, all my buddies.
That hope was shattered last month when a roadside bomb blew up one of his best friends, and Meeks had to carry his slain buddy more than a mile back to base.
I didn't want to believe it until I actually had to carry his body bag, which was pretty bad, he says, making a fist with his left hand and smashing it again...

Friday the 13th Explained? Well, maybe
One of the most commonly held superstitions in our presumably civilized, educated society is that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. In this equation, both Friday and the number thirteen are held to be unlucky, so their sum can only equal double trouble.
Friggatriskaidekaphobes or paraskevidekatriaphobics are those afflicted with a morbid, irrational, overwhelming fear of Friday the 13th. Where does this unnatural trepidation of Friday the 13th originate? As the story goes, in orde...

Giuliani Faces Questions About Sept. 11
NEW YORK (March 30) - Rudy Giuliani 's White House aspirations are inescapably tied to Sept. 11, 2001 - for better and for worse.
While the former mayor of the nation's largest city was widely lionized for his post-9/11 leadership - Churchillian was one adjective, America's mayor was Oprah Winfrey's assessment - city firefighters and their families are...

Funny Caribbean Stud Story
While I just finished up a PM to LOTTOMIKE, I was thinking of a humorous story to tell. Mike is from Memphis, which is adjacent to my favorite gambling destination in the world - Tunica, Mississippi. I go there at least once a year, if not two or three times a year. This year, I've been busy with work, moving to Ft. Mill, the death of my dad, my son starting T-ball, etc., so I've only made the journey once this year. But for those of you who have never been there, it is the best...

guns n roses and the case of the missing album
Since its initial 1994 inception, Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' has seen four presidential terms, two popes and five Olympic games, not to mention three studios, four producers and nearly $15M in costs. Rolling Stone heard of a firm street date of Nov. 21, which has come and gone. So, will the most famous and expensive&nbs...
