$500 million jackpot...when?
The $25 million cap goes into effect when powerball breaks the previous high record. Right now the record is at $315 million. If the jackpot rolls over tonight it might reach $340 million. That would be the new record. If the record ever reaches $400 million, I am sure that at $400 million we would get a $100 million jump the next time. Making it a $500 million dollar jackpot. Might be a few years, but it is possible. By the way, lottery officials stated that tonight they expect 54% of the possi

If nobody wins PB on Wed, will Saturdays beat Gloria Mackenzie record?
Here's what the increases have been for the record and for the current run: 116 +24 140 +25 165 +26 191 +31 222 +48 270 +94 364 +226 590 116 +25 141 +25 166 +30 196 +39 235 +72 300 +93 400 +? From the same starting point the increases were the same or very close, but then began increasing. Not counting the most recent (which will almost certainly change), the increases have been 25% and then 50% greater for the current run. If that trend continues we would expect the current adv

LOTTO NEWS
Yup...that's them. That article appeared The WAPO in 2006 and it also found it's way here to The Lottery Post. Although I was a fan of Lotto News and its sister publication Lotto Stats, I found that I had the same stats/info at my finger tips on my PC with the copy of the commercially available lottery software I had bought. For many New York players that didn't have software, Lotto Stats provided them a hardcopy of stats they couldn't find elsewhere, and I think that's the biggest reason wh

Are Mega Millions sales really that bad now?
I already compared three jackpot runs since the game changed and there was no significant difference so monthly sales is the only sales figure left to compare. The real problem here is as usual you're arguing for the sake of arguing presenting zero facts showing that MM sales are really that bad now and giving an accurate comparison. The current Mega Millions prize is on it's 18th draw and about two years ago, that amount of draws with no winner would have most likely had a billion dollar pri

As a Lottery JP winner: Would you " help" your city out if they were on the verge of bankruptcy?
The issue i was raising was not about a corporation making record profits and having a issue with that, so lets not make this something it's not, it's about them not needing all these loopholes and tax breaks as well as subsidies. This country is in debt and we are borrowing money from other countries to pay our bills because we are funding those who are able to work WHO DO NOT NEED IT as well as corporations who are making record profits who DO NOT NEED IT...this was my focus. What more needs t

Why so much greed?
Hi, Todd. Are you the man who is fighting against computerized drawings? I loved that debate. I, too, hope that it never comes to pass. There's too much riding on allowing players to be a witness to their own luck, good or bad. It's a matter of trust and being on the up and up. Those balls mean something that a computer print-out never will. As for people being fans of the lottery... nah, it's just straight greed. A lottery can only go up and up and up so high. Yes, it's fun to watch the

Why so much greed?
I've passed through this site on and off since Jack Whittaker. I finally decided to register today because of a disturbing attitude from some members here. I don't understand how adding the Match 5 pool to the ultimate jackpot winner does the lottery any good. One or two people here are positively foaming off at the mouth at the supposed 'rip off' of not allowing a new record to be hit ('it could roll to half a billion dollars!'), versus making more people winners of bigger cash amounts. I r
