12th-largest US lottery jackpot in history; 15th-largest cash value By Todd Northrop There are going to be a lot of lottery tickets sold this week. For only the 12th time in the history of United States lotteries, a lottery jackpot has exceeded $600 million. The new high-water mark of $630 million for the current Mega Millions jackpot was achieved after no winning tickets were sold for Tuesday night's $555 million grand prize. The lump-sum cash payout value of Friday's Mega

Don't forget where you put your tickets! By Kate Northrop A Virginia woman was going through some papers when she came across a forgotten winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000. Two months after the drawing had taken place, a Virginia woman found a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000. Maryland Lottery to switch to computerized drawings
Maryland, you have my deepest condolences. More than 30 other lotteries in the U.S. and Canada have shifted to RNG systems because they are efficient, cost-effective and most importantly they are extremely secure. if I hear that line one more time I think I am gonna hmmm, they must have never heard of Eddie Tipton, or hope you haven't... Again Maryland, you have my deepest sympathy on the death of your lottery.... P.S. When Eddie got out of prison in July, I wonder if he mo

Maryland man wins third $50,000 Pick 5 lottery prize in less than a year using same numbers
If Maryland is like Florida, they can cut off sales of a given number if it starts to exceed a certain amount that they don't want to be liable for (in our case $7 million) So if everyone starts trying playing the same number, some people could get cut off

Maryland man wins third $50,000 Pick 5 lottery prize in less than a year using same numbers
Yes, that is true a lot of people will start playing the guy's lucky numbers but he knows even if people do play his numbers, it will not lessen the money he receives when he wins on them again. Besides when playing pick 3, pick 4 and pick 5, you don't know when to play them or for how long. The pick 5 started in Maryland in Feb. 2022 so he would have to have played them twice a day, seven days a weeks for almost 14 months. Most people are not going to have that kind of dedication and spending a

Maryland Lottery to switch to computerized drawings
Most lotteries will say they do ask the players by looking at sales figures. In Maryland about 26% of the total sales are pick 3, 4, and 5 games. The next question should be of those over 26% buying tickets, how many watch the live drawings. Not making excuses for computer RNG drawings but there are lots of other places to get results without watching the live drawings. A even though some states show animated cartoonish drawings, at the end of the day, we can't watch the actual computer RNG

$70 million Michigan Powerball winner says lottery winners should be able to remain anonymous
Remember in an analysis of anonymity for a state, it is not typically just a yes or no like Maryland where it is 100% anonymous and they stress that fact. Anonymity can be limited based on a time period and/or amount won, type of game, and subject to state FOIA and similar laws. Or if a state says no to anonymity, it MAY allow you to claim via a llc or trust. And whether your name is released as the winner will also vary. So it is not just a simple yes or no answer.
