I've heard alot of theories about what that number could be. One poster from here predicted it might refer to the pool or grouping that the book came from. I think that's a very viable theory.

I think they put it out there at the beginning. But there was one big catch, you were only entered into the drawing if you won a $1k or $20k prize. So the pool of entries was a lot smaller than the current games.

Post your scratch ticket results
That's a decent incentive. I've never went to those, but I'd imagine cups, hats, tshirts, etc would be mixed into the prize pool. If it isn't far from where you're at, I'd say it is worth going with the chance of winning the extra $10 in scratchoffs.

IMO, if the prize wasn't destroyed, no book would technically be too low - I don't think they put them out sequentially last year either, just like this year. And they shouldn't have any control over where in a pool a grand prize is printed. So, good luck!

Buying an entire roll of NY Scratch offs that offer a one million prize
I bought a full unopened pack of The New York Lottery's $5 scratch offs which cost $500. (100 in a pack) They served as the prize for a 100 square pool I ran at work. I bought a newly introduced scratch off game, so I was pretty sure that there were top prizes still available. The guy who won them told me he won a total of $210 dollars. He actually won $200 because he bought two squares of the 100 squares in the pool. Each square cost participant's $5. The only other thing I can add to

The secret to winning lottery with Scratch off's
excellent analysis you've put into words what I've long suspected about the nature of these games. Concerning top prizes hitting at the beginning of a new game, I see that as just another layer in the illusion. Even though there could be up to 8 or so different games in a denomination supposedly with their own prize pool I believe they are rather contiguous entities, with no more than 1-3 pools going at a time.

The secret to winning lottery with Scratch off's
Also, think of this. Normally top prizes are hit at the back of a section of tickets or prize pool and in what the last 15%? Do you think they sent the front or the back out first :).

Last of the California Second Chance Jackpots
Looking at the Calf website, I dont see any more second chance drawings for superlotto (1140 or for pool scratchers (55) after this month. Is this correct?

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
You're probably right about the same WoF odds structure for the $10 game. I see how it states how much of the prize pool are in the $50 - $1000 range, striking similarities to WoF.
