California Lottery announces group as winners of historic $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot
Cash value has been less than 50% for a while .. since interest rates started shooting up (big change from the COVID days of 83% :) But the hight interest rates is why the jackpots are so high (the return on annuity investments is earning a lot more.. 30 yr government bonds are over 4% now vs not much more than 2% during COVID

Lotto Jokes
Did you hear about MUSL's PB forecast for a rollover? The annuity will increase by $8 million but the cash value will only go up $4 million .

Poll: Classic Mega Millions
Get your point. But...interest rates control the difference between annuity prize and cash value prize. MM cash value for Tuesday draw is $175.4 million. That's enough for me. In fact, at my age, $1 million ($630,000 after fed taxes) is enough for me.

I will change the way I buy Cash4life tickets.
Here is how I buy my tickets on Friday. I buy at least 3 lines for 3 draws, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on one tickets. Now if I were to win at least the second prize on two of those draws, I believe I would only have one option on how to claim my prize. I think it would be smart if I won to keep my options open on how to claim and when to claim. If 2 second prize on one ticket I would have to claim 2 lump sum or 2 annuity. Now I will be playing my line on 3 tickets so I wou

$1.725 BILLION: Powerball jackpot now 2nd-largest of all time
Most in the press have rounded that number off to $1.73 billion. If it was a normal number 1.725 should get rounded up to 1.73 if that 3rd digit is a problem. In this case it's an advertisement, and even using the annuity that nobody's going to take they aren't planning on giving anybody 1.73 billion. I don't know about actual advertising, but the websites of a few states are calling it 1.72 billion. New Jersey's website lists it as 1.7 billion. Whether any of those lower numbers are the re

$1.4 BILLION: Powerball jackpot juggernaut keeps rolling
A winner who chooses the cash option would receive a lump-sum $643.7 million more than a half-billion dollars in cash! -- more than a half-billion dollars in cash! Well yes, but not really. Not after Uncle Sam takes his 37% cut. The 24% withholding would knock it down to a hair over $489 million, so you wouldn't even see a check for half a billion and be able to have that much in the bank for an afternoon. Another $14.4 million would let you at least handle a (fake, giant) check for hal

$1.58 billion Mega Millions lottery winner has two weeks left to claim cash option
G5...... If they are reasonably keen on being silent, they might have contacted Lottery Lawyer Kurt D Panouses down in Indiatlantic, FL. https://www.panouseslaw.com/ His site does show 4 trusts that he represented including the Nickel 95 trust back in 2016. With that sized jackpot getting $15 Million on the first annuity payout(after taxes) ain't too shabby.
