Is it legal...
It would be legal I think if you moved it offshore to another country. You can base the headquarters overseas and bypass that law if I'm not mistaken. I thought Betslips was in the USA anybody know? You would have to get some legal advice it wouldnt be cheap. And you need some startup money and other people to go into business with you.

illegal immigrants poll
The Key Word Here is Illegal! I voted No. If they go through the proper steps and become Legal American Citizens the Yes, I think they then should have the right to cash in a lottery win that they purchased with their earned Legal Money LOL. I don't blame them from wanting to be here, I am proud of and Thankful to the Men and Women who have fought to make America what it is......... Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!

Is ist legal to play powerball online??
Hey, thanks! This is a partial answer to a question I asked a few days ago. What makes lottery clubs, services, whatever name they are called, illegal? How can an online group get a lottery and it not be considered illegal to be a member of it. What legal terms in the by-laws or incorporation papers would make it legal?

Original buyer of $1M lottery ticket identified
Do you know that for a fact, Raven62, or are you just guessing? It's clear they didn't have him arrested for theft. But the legal question of whether they tacitly consented to allowing him ownership of the ticket seems to me to be entirely up for grabs. They certainly have him on the security camera taking the ticket.I'd bet if the dumpster diver wins his court case against the original purchaser his legal battles over the money haven't even begun. And the party of the second part definitely has

Lotto winner's ex-wife fights back
Evidently she has the goods on him, in terms of the hotel receipts etc. If you read the story and you understand the legal ramifications (I have experienced divorce and remarriage) he is going to have to share 50% + legal fees. Someone said, he let his little brain get his big brain in trouble. After you factor in the 2 kids he may come away with one third of his lump sum payment. Let this be a lesson to all in tangled relationships, money brings the beast out of everyone.

Hoosier Lottery Email response
ok Todd..whatever..but lawyers have the answers..as they are in the legal profession..unlike a layperson ....I never said they had to be on call 24 hours a day....it takes a simple phone call during business hours...so if you want the best advice on a legal issue it will take a call to the attorney to get the best advice....laymen can only think they know alot....

Record Jackpot Claimed, question!
That is why before you do anything you get good legal AND tax advisors. My understanding (every state COULD be different, I don't know) is if you want to split up the prize like they did, you must have a prearranged agreement before you buy the lottery tickets. Which is not likely (my opinion.) I know that when I win a big prize, I plan to give my siblings and parents a chunck each (I say now around 5 percent each), again, I don't think it is 100 % legal unless you have prearanged it. Stars

Dad's Powerball lottery win causes honor student to miss exam
Has any one figured out that an adult can buy a ticket and give it to a minor, say their child, and it is perfectly legal? Not an uncommon event. In NJ, you can claim as a minor, just can get anything until you're legal.
