Washington should copy El Gordo, the 'Fat One', lottery in Spain. It is Spain s annual Christmas lottery. It raises billions in Spain, a similar Christmas lottery in the US, could raise much more. It has been estimated that 75 per cent of adult Spaniards play the Christmas lottery and the state company which organises The Fat One reckons that this year each Spaniard will spend an average of 62.72 on tickets, with the amount of tickets on sale reaching a value of 3.2 billion.

I do like the concept of the El Gordo I love a large lottery drawn once a year at Christmas with lots and lots of prizes. However, I do not think it is the business of the Federal Government to run this lottery I think it should be done by the existing lotteries in the states that currently allow lotteries. I also don't feel that a tax of $5 per ticket makes it a tax free lottery. I abhor paying tax when I purchase a lottery ticket so the winner can benefit tax free. Make it $10 per ticket but p

Ask Todd. Sounds like your account got banned for a no-no. El Gordo means Fat One in Spanish. It's a big lottery played once a year in Spain. Very popular over there.

US State Lotteries Should Organize A National "Fat One" Next Christmas

I think el gordo , the fat one in spain has a good format. sue the tickets are expensive, but man does that money get shared around. the UK euro millions with thte exra millions in raffles, , and the canandian lotto max, whenre anything over $50 mill i think goes into extra draws, NOW they are on the right track. peronally id rather see 500 people made millionaires ea week, than 1 person win a half a billion.

How many times do they pick a new number? Not sure what you mean. It's one drawing. The ticket numbers you see for sales are tickets that the company has already purchased, and have not been bought by someone using their service yet.
