A National Lottery During Our Lifetime
Why not something more like the El Gordo in Spain with lots of winners. I'm not sue if there is any one big jackpot winner but I think the prizes get split a lot of ways. Anyone familiar with how it's set up?

Which situation would you prefer?
1. One guy winning $100 millions. 2. One hundred unrelated people winning $1 million each. Seriously, I prefer number 2. And El Gordo is like this.

Spain's Christmas lottery is still "El Gordo"
Two hundred Euros broken down over a year doesn't sound too bad to me. I'd probably buy a whole ticket, given the opportunity. It's funny how coincidences arise. As I read this article I remembered that I had a mother in law at one time that had the same name as the Spanish Lottery - El Gordo. Well, it wasn't actually her given name, it was more like a nickname that I gave her. I thought it was quaint and fitting; my wife at the time took offense. That woman had absolutely no sense of humor.

Spain's Christmas lottery is still "El Gordo"
Well, you have to understand that the Fat One lottery is only once per year, and you also have to understand how tickets are traditionally purchased in Spain. By only comparing El Gordo to USA lotteries, you are missing the point. Someone buying tickets for themselves may pick up a few decimas. But often families buy whole tickets, and share in the winnings. Sometimes entire villages buy ranges of tickets. It is a cultural thing, and one of the longest-running lotteries worldwide. Certainly

Tickets for new Washington Lottery raffle go on sale Sunday
Um... I'm not sure how you can disagree with a mathematical fact. These raffles are great for people who want to win a million dollars but they are not designed for people who want to win $2.00. There is nothing underhanded or strange about the raffles. In fact, they exactly like the world's most popular game, El Gordo.

Are Lotteries Required to pay out 80% or more ?
Appreciate the info Coin Toss. Who would you say makes more, State Lottery's or Casinos? I know the state keeps their overhead way down And JimmySand9 over in Spain, El Gordo may be close to that 80%, from what I hear

International Lottery Purchase Schemes
Hi there. I've been reading these posts on my cellphone for ages, but finally want to touch base with you all and see what your thoughts are on my issue. I live in England and buy lottery tickets via an online company that seems to work out very well apart from the fee. I have bought Euromillions, El Gordo, NY Powerball, NY Megamillions, Australian, Italian and Japanese lotteries. I don't mind paying a premium to purchase the tickets (cheaper than a plane fare obviously), but I cannot tell exact

What Would Be An Ideal Lottery?
If I had input in designing a lottery, I would make it a worldwide lottery with proceeds going to benefit victims of natural diasters. It would be kinda like El Gordo and a bit of the raffles we have in the USA, with the big annual drawing in December. The specifications: There would be a weekly drawing with the minimum jackpot being $25,000,000.00. If the jackpot is NOT won, it would increase by $10,000,000.00 a week until the first week of the next month. If there is no level one (jack

The Trip to USAMega
Yeah, I kind aremember now. I would go to USA Today,s sport section when state lotteries that I followed did not have the numbers up. Had an opportunity to travel to Spain (I yes indeed, I would have bought El Gordo tickets!) and just researching the game on the net. I stayed on the USAMega site for a long time before I started exploring the links. Then one day I decided to see what the LP link was all about. Hey all 'a ya'll @ the LP link! Thanks Todd! I am exploring more links

Online Gaming
Yeah, the same article appeared in USA Today last week. The author obviously has no experience with PlayLot -- especially lumping them in with a risky site like buypowerballonline.com -- but at least she set the record straight on that scam site Lottery Universe.Lottery officials, like the one quoted in the article, have a duty to say don't do it , because that's the politically correct thing to say. The fact remains however, that PlayLot has been around for so long because they are an exce
