A verbal Lottery joke agreement wouldn't hold up in Court, would it?
So, there was an article about what NOT to do if you win the Lottery or will win the Lottery. One of the tips was something like, Never joke, about giving someone a cut of your winnings if you win the Lottery because they could sue you for your winnings if you do. For example, never jokingly, say to your to your Friend, Tom, if I ever win The Powerball 1.5 Billion Jackpot, I'll give you $20 Million, but I'm sure I'll never win it, it's a 1 in a 1.5 Billion chance. Tom and you both laugh, but if

A verbal Lottery joke agreement wouldn't hold up in Court, would it?
If it gets to court its not a joke. Think about that. Nobody is going to file a lawsuit and go to court claiming it was all a joke. You can claim it was a joke all you want, but what did the other party think? If you find yourself in court he/she is not going to tell the judge, yeah, we were just joking. G

Arrested for buy too many Lottery tickets?
Qualified Immunity for police is not a defense in all states. More importantly, it does not apply if a constitutional right was violated. If the arrested individual was a minority or other protected category and could prove in court that they were targeted, qualified immunity would not be a defense. We all see police court trials all the time for police misconduct.

thoughts on lottery syndicates
I agree, I would do a U.S. based group. I came up with this, these syndicates should have bylaws that each member needs to sign or something that clearly says top prizes will be shared evenly among *members who participated in the drawing* This should keep everybody honest. I've read articles where the winnings were halted or disputed in court the judge ended up breaking it up or the person was convinced to share! So any large jackpot or 2nd or 3rd place winnings, if the syndicate organizer or t

The $29.95 Non-Believerz
Face it Poopstalker. Virtually everyone on this site sees you for what you are. An idjit who thinks he gets screwed by the lotteries each you play. Claiming numbers that absolutely had no law of probability of occurring but you have absolutely no proof of lotteries tampering with the results. You won't take the LO's to court because you know there's no lawyer stupid enough to take that case, and no judge would give such a case one second in his/her court. As long as you keep posting your cr

A verbal Lottery joke agreement wouldn't hold up in Court, would it?
If you both tell the court there was agreement, laughingly or not, the court will likely uphold that agreement. Even if you are laughing, and they laugh too, there was an oral understanding, an offer tendered without conditions and acknowledged. In most states that would be an oral contract. G

How do you deal with lottery losses?
NC State is in the ACC final against North Carolina tonight and might make the dance. Purdue lost today extending what I believe is the weirdest College basketball season in years. Yep, I can remember Jimmy V running around the court looking for someone to hug.

Janite Lee: Is she still alive?
South Korean immigrant Janite Lee was working at a wig shop when she won $18 million in the Illinois lottery in 1993. Eight years later, when she filed for bankruptcy, she had less than $700 in the bank and $2.5 million in debt. Her donations were well-intentioned, but she simply gave too much. After donating huge sums to educational, political and social causes, she sold her rights to future annual payments in exchange for a lump sum, according to Time. But even that wasn t enough to keep h
