Winners across Spain celebrate results of 2019 El Gordo Christmas lottery
El Gordo doesn't just mimic a raffle, it IS a raffle. The raffle games that were introduced in the United States starting around 10 years ago were a direct attempt to bring an El Gordo-style Christmas game to the US. It was only partially successful because most states have abandoned the format. The article does mention about the prize amounts, stating both the top prize amount, as well as the payout amounts of a decimo (one-tenth of a full ticket) and even how much a 1 euro purchase would re

$800 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot approaches billion-dollar range
You did not read the article. You really should, because you are incorrect. That article you linked even contains information that contradicts what you said: As measured by the total prize payout, the Spanish Christmas Lottery is considered the biggest lottery worldwide. Total prize payout is a prize pool, not a jackpot. Even the top prize in El Gordo is a prize pool split by hundreds of people, not a jackpot. And although El Gordo is commonly referred to as a lottery , it is actually

Anybody Playing El Gordo This Year ?
I'm not having much luck getting the right thoughts across ... I will explain, first ... I am not interested in the Federal government making any money on this idea ... I'm only interested in players having a chance at winning a large tax free jackpot. I'm thinking with tickets on sale all year ... the jackpot could be enormous. I'm not interested in bonds or any kind of securities ... I'm interested in a game like El Gordo as was mentioned in my first post. I could care less if the Feds g

America should have a 'The Fat One'
The Spanish Christmas Lottery, known as 'El Gordo' in Spanish (or 'The Fat One'), has the biggest prize pool of any lottery in the world. It is a national lottery game organized every year since 1812. Because of the unique way El Gordo is played (the expensive tickets are broken down into 10 smaller tickets), it can be quite sociable to play the Spanish Christmas Lottery. I would like to see US State Lotteries organize a such a Christmas lottery in 2012. It would be fun and raise additiona

El Gordo sounds much better than MM or PB!
Relatively smaller prizes for more people out there? That sounds more reasonable than MM or PB. Why doesn't US create such kind of lottery game? And, I stated this in my previous post. Why don't more states have Win a certain amount of money per week for life ? Doesn't that sound more reasonable? NY has it. CA used to have $1000 per week for life . Nobody needs to win 20 to 30 millions. Guys like me just want to go back to school and finish some glorified trade schools called art colleges.
