I just received an e-mail that a player from Illinois claimed a jackpot winning ticket from the November 3 drawing. Given the corruption in Illinois, I don't blame him one bit for coming to Wisconsin.

Here is a copy of the Illinois Power Ball upcoming fill-in play slip. However; I more than likely will buy my tickets in Wisconsin as they pay their winners over 25k in real money not I.O.U.'s as Illinois is currently doing. Tickets go on sale 10/04/15.

Illinois Lotto July 27, 2011 Almost Had a Heart Attack!
I went to the Illinois Lottery website around 9:40 p.m. about 15 minutes after the drawing took place and noticed that I matched 13, then 14, and I looked quickly and matched only one other number 32. I thought I had it! :) Oh well, I get $3 back and that was a quick pick. I guess Rdg was right. My other Lotto line that had the hot numbers I picked, I matched 2. I could be wrong about this(I'm not a tax lawyer), but I think it actually has to do with the state you bought the ticket in. For example, I live in Iowa but if I drive to Illinois and win the mega millions, I would be taxed on Illinois rates. That I know is a fact, because it was a question answered by a lottery official.

Yeah the starting jackpots for Powerball and Mega Millions are more than the Illinois Lotto game normally sees; it takes the Illinois Lotto jackpot weeks upon weeks of rolls to get to $12 million!!

You need to keep in mind that although it probably did roll, just because the Illinois Lottery posted the new jackpot doesn't mean it WILL roll.The Illinois Lottery posts the new jackpot before it is official, and it has been wrong before. MegaMillions States also have different rules for paying the retailer that sells the winning tickets. A few years ago when the BigGame(now MegaMillions) had it largest jackpot, one winner bought his ticket in Illinois and another in Michigan, they both received equal portions of the jackpot but the Illinois retailer got about $100K and the one in Michigan got $1K.
