Big Congrats to this Michigan lottery player! I SO WISH my state would implement online ticket sales. My car just broke down, possibly for the last time. It's only a 15 minute walk to the little store but I have a troubled ankle right now. Even when my car was running fine, I was wishing for online ticket purchasing. It would just be so convenient.

I would think the same thing. We don't have online sales in my state and I have wondered how that works. If someone buys a ticket online, do they get a copy of the actual numbers that were on the ticket? If so, they can be checked. I've gotten the emails and phone calls about the lottery jackpot I've supposedly won and need to pay taxes and fees to receive it. They get hung up on or deleted.

I think online sales would help a lot. In the cases where people were contacted via email, at least the winner eventually realized it was legitimate. It costs the lottery far less time and effort and money to reach a known person vs advertising for an unclaimed ticket.

I won't mention the name here but there is a website in Texas that has a lotto report of ticket sales by state from most of the states for both Powerball and Mega Millions draws. I have looked at sales reports, by county, in Michigan and there are plenty of anomalies here if you compare big wins/sales by county. Too bad the games are not more transparent and don't break down the ticket sales by state and too bad the states don't break them down by county and report the numbers online.
