Quick Picks can't match the power of Self Picks
I get a big laugh when I see someone post about how Quick Picks are the greatest. Then they'll post some winning numbers and prizes with a Look! See!... See! Look!... Loooook...seeeee. attitude. Well, there are a few problems with comparing Quick Picks to Self Picks (a.k.a. Personal Picks). It has to do with proportionality of work being done. From Powerball's Frequently Asked Questions page, under the heading WHICH HAS THE BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING: COMPUTER PICKS OR PLAYER PICKS? They say,

Quick Picks can't match the power of Self Picks
Ok, I got enough stimulus response from it to show the fatal flaws it has. We can establish that it's a propionate of the Quick Pick. It has posted topics to support this, including the link it has posted in this topic. Obviously it likes the idea that someone winning using Quick Picks is a good thing and that purchasing Quick Picks makes it happy and proud. We can see this by the posting of jackpot wins, but moreover anyone winning in any form of a Quick Pick is a plus, too. It would have to

There is a name for that QP phenomena, Quick Pick Clustering.

Odds of winning box on a Quick Pick?
Does anyone know what the odds are of winning box on a Quick Pick in the Pick 3 and Pick 4? I was thinking of adding 6/1000 (representing a single) and 3/1000 (representing a double) and that gives us about a 1 in 110 chance. In the Pick 4, adding 24/10000 (single), 12/10000 (double), 6/10000 (double double), 4/10000 (triple) which is rougly a 1 in 216 chance. I don't know if that is correct.

Quick Picks can't match the power of Self Picks
I'd like to say that in no way should Quick Picks be etched of the equation. However, when someone uses Quick Picks as the banner headline to indirectly put down those who choose their own numbers, well, that's just not right. From my pervious post I stated first, This makes reasonable sense, Quick Picks out weigh the number of Self Picked purchases. This would be like having a football game and on the Quick Pick side you have all 12 players and on the Self Pick side you'd have only about 3

The Most important Lottery Statistics
Benmas: I agree with you 100% on your first post. Lottery drawings are random and the only hope we have of making smart picks is to try to find some kind of pattern we can exploit. For a long time I only bought quick picks. I started getting tired of quick picks that seemed very unlikely to hit. For example for a pick 5 something like: 5-6-7-8-30. I started trying writing all kinds of spreadsheets that would analyze hot/cold, even/odd, hit/skip....etc. It would all look good on paper, but never

Approximating chaotic systems
I don't know if this will help or not, but in both MM and PB they do two test draws that you don't get to see. So your numbers could have come up in the test draws. The winning numbers that come up are in past draws even the powerball or mega number. So pick 25-30 numbers and 5-10 bonus numbers from the past draws and pick from that pool of numbers and you have a better chance of winning, or you can just Quick Pick.

Winning with Math only and absolutely no draw History
There were many proposals of using math without history, generally for Pick 3. Try date pyramid or PI with random numbers so hotly discussed on LP times ago. As to others I just did not pay much attention to them so only these 2 come to my mind, sort of quick pick. If you are mathematically creative you can generate similar systems a dozen a day. Only your fantasy is the limit.

Pick-3 Box or Straight ??
Lottomister I wish we had pick 4. The commision won't start one they are too busy with scratch offs. Many people have asked but to no avail. Being positive is important otherwise a bettor should go for a quick pick. I did have one beer last night but I hit the dry sauna and steam room today so I'm ready to roll!
