Poll: Classic Mega Millions
We're getting fewer winners with smaller prizes... In August of 2017 a $350M jackpot would have have given the winner $216M before taxes $162M after taxes in California. That's $0.46 on the dollar take-home. On 11/27/2023 the PB jackpot is $352M.... with a cash option of $163M before taxes about $103M after taxes in California.. That's $0.29 on the dollar take-home. That's a difference of $53M on the pre-tax $59M on the post-tax payout... So where the hell is that e

Decrease of cash value
It's just gonna keep going down, down, down until someday a $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot winner will only take home a lump sum of $25,000,000 after taxes.

The pool is buying 20 tickets per draw. Not a lot of tickets but still enough to win. My share of the jackpot for the Friday draw is $3 million. This is the cash value and before taxes.

Big Prize Winners on LP
If you notice a lot of what you find here on LP is for pick 3 and 4. These pick games are easier to win vs the big lotteries. Also in many states if you play pick 3 you can cash it at the store tax free. However be aware if your state offers online play where you can play via the states lottery web site instead of going to an outlet to buy a physical ticket.. You will pay taxes on any of your winnings. The big plus of online play is you don't half to think about what you are doing if you have an
