Mega Millions comes to Florida
It's a great time to be a lottery player in Florida: Powerball is at $360 million and rising, the highest it has been since last year's record $587 million. Meanwhile, at 6 a.m. this morning, Mega Millions tickets went on sale in Florida for the first time. The multi-state jackpot is approaching $200 million.

Florida to join multi-state Mega Millions lottery
Florida will start selling tickets to the popular Mega Millions game later this year.
Florida Lottery officials told The Associated Press on Thursday that the state will join 42 other states in selling tickets. Tickets will go on sale on May 15.
The first Mega Millions drawing that Florida tickets will participate in is on Friday, May 17.
The state already sells tickets to Powerball, another multi-state game. It also has its own game called Florida Lotto.

Florida Powerball winner claims $50 million jackpot
Christopher McGurran overnight went from living a modest life to living large.
The 30-year-old and his wife claimed the $50 million Powerball jackpot drawn last month in St. Petersburg.

A Florida woman was convicted Monday of first-degree murder in the slaying of a lottery winner in central Florida.
Dorice Dee Dee Moore showed no emotion as the verdict was read. Judge Emmett Battles sentenced her to mandatory life without parole for the murder and an additional minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years for using a gun in the commission of a felony.
