Internet gambling bill awaits house vote
The reason why that is in place is because lottery tickets cannot be sold over state lines. That rule has been in place for a while. But it is up to each individual state to determine if they want to sell tickets online, as the current UIGEA specifically exempts state lotteries from that (ridiculous) piece of legislation.
Expect to see more states moving soon to sell online - my belief is that they will have to pay out less in commissions this way.

They shop (if at all) at the local goodwill, flea markets, etc. Their children are the ones who wear one outfit one week and the other ou ...

Tenn. wants to limit winnings
I love it! Republicans have controlled the legislature for all of two months out of 40 something years and every problem, every stupid piece of legislation that EVER came out of the state legislature is blamed on Republicans. What's the matter? Ticked off that George Bush is no longer around!
The fact that this particular piece of legislation is uneforceable hasn't yet ocurred to anyone. There are so many ways out there to circumvent the penalty thus making the law laughable. Ease up, good p ...

The usa fed's have just increased the tax on cigarettes.... by as much a 80 cents in some states
Charging more for lottery tickets would only create problems for the payout structure. Nobody is going to want to pay an additional dollar to play pick 3 or 4 games or any other games unless they increase the payout to match the expense of playing.
On February 4th, 2009, the Federal Government enacted legislation to fund
