Following the Tennessee Lottery's unusual Pick 3 numbers Thursday -- where the midday and evening draw results were the same -- I decided to find out how many times that has happened before. (Story here: http://www.lotterypost.com/news/161946) So I constructed some custom database queries to dig out the answer, and here are the results. Each Pick 3 number in the list below appeared in both the midday and evening drawing in that state on the same date. | Tennessee | August 30, 2007 | 9-4-0 | | Indiana | July 24, 2007 | 8-4-6 | | Tennessee | May 24, 2007 | 5-5-3 | | Illinois/Iowa | December 19, 2006 | 4-4-7 | | Tri-State | September 4, 2006 | 6-4-7 | | Illinois/Iowa | August 30, 2006 | 3-9-0 | | Missouri | July 17, 2006 | 0-5-5 | | Virginia | June 26, 2006 | 2-5-4 | | Michigan | May 2, 2006 | 6-4-8 | | Missouri | December 2, 2005 | 1-3-0 | | Indiana | September 23, 2005 | 5-6-0 | | Missouri | July 27, 2005 | 0-0-0 | | Washington, D.C. | July 24, 2005 | 2-9-5 | | California | July 12, 2005 | 6-9-5 | | Kentucky | July 12, 2005 | 8-3-6 | | Tri-State | May 4, 2005 | 8-4-2 | | Illinois/Iowa | March 1, 2005 | 2-3-8 | | Virginia | February 3, 2005 | 5-6-2 | | Virginia | January 14, 2005 | 2-8-1 | | Virginia | December 23, 2004 | 1-7-6 | | Michigan | December 2, 2004 | 4-6-8 | | Texas | July 5, 2004 | 4-6-6 | | Virginia | June 15, 2004 | 7-4-9 | | Pennsylvania | June 12, 2004 | 4-7-4 | | New York | April 14, 2004 | 0-0-7 | | Delaware | March 8, 2004 | 1-9-0 | | New Jersey | March 4, 2004 | 5-0-0 | | Virginia | February 18, 2004 | 4-0-5 | | New York | November 1, 2003 | 8-3-5 | | California | October 26, 2003 | 3-6-7 | | Texas | September 25, 2003 | 9-4-6 | | New York | September 20, 2003 | 2-9-8 | | Washington, D.C. | September 17, 2003 | 3-1-0 | | Virginia | August 28, 2003 | 9-6-5 | | New York | August 16, 2003 | 8-2-3 | | California | May 3, 2003 | 3-6-0 | | New Jersey | April 27, 2003 | 5-5-4 | | Michigan | April 6, 2003 | 7-4-8 | | Delaware | February 15, 2003 | 7-6-6 | | New York | December 29, 2002 | 5-5-0 | | Virginia | December 16, 2002 | 6-1-1 | | California | November 4, 2002 | 8-8-4 | | Illinois/Iowa | November 1, 2002 | 6-3-1 | | Connecticut | October 30, 2002 | 6-0-4 | | Michigan | October 22, 2002 | 3-6-0 | | New York | October 12, 2002 | 2-4-5 | | Illinois/Iowa | September 27, 2002 | 9-3-0 | | Michigan | September 24, 2002 | 4-2-6 | | Illinois/Iowa | August 28, 2002 | 8-5-7 | | Connecticut | August 22, 2002 | 7-1-2 | | Delaware | August 14, 2002 | 6-8-0 | | New Jersey | August 14, 2002 | 3-0-9 | | Washington, D.C. | August 13, 2002 | 8-9-0 | | Illinois/Iowa | August 10, 2002 | 2-5-7 | | Illinois | August 8, 2002 | 3-6-3 | | New Jersey | August 6, 2002 | 6-9-5 | | Illinois/Iowa | August 3, 2002 | 1-2-0 | | New Jersey | July 13, 2002 | 3-1-9 | | Kentucky | July 5, 2002 | 1-6-5 | | New York | June 30, 2002 | 7-7-0 | | Virginia | June 19, 2002 | 3-3-9 | | Indiana | June 13, 2002 | 6-0-6 | | Illinois/Iowa | June 8, 2002 | 4-4-1 | | Indiana | June 8, 2002 | 1-5-1 | | New York | May 18, 2002 | 6-7-6 | | Texas | May 3, 2002 | 6-8-7 | | Kentucky | April 24, 2002 | 1-9-6 | | Illinois/Iowa | April 17, 2002 | 1-8-7 | | Delaware | March 14, 2002 | 6-9-3 | | New York | February 13, 2002 | 7-9-3 | | New York | February 7, 2002 | 2-0-2 | | Connecticut | January 31, 2002 | 5-6-3 | | New York | December 18, 2001 | 0-7-7 | | Virginia | November 28, 2001 | 8-5-8 | | Washington, D.C. | February 24, 2001 | 5-5-9 | | Kentucky | April 11, 2000 | 8-0-8 | | Kentucky | March 28, 2000 | 4-0-4 | | Kentucky | March 24, 2000 | 2-1-7 | | Kentucky | March 23, 2000 | 8-2-6 | | Kentucky | March 20, 2000 | 1-7-1 | | Ohio | February 16, 2000 | 9-0-4 | | Ohio | January 31, 2000 | 8-7-5 | | Ohio | October 2, 1999 | 4-8-5 | | Delaware | June 22, 1999 | 9-0-2 |

Thanks Todd. This is a very interesting list. I wished you had noted which states were RNG, but I can look that up. I love doubles and remember, it's just a game!!!!!!

Thanks Todd you are the man. I tried looking at some of those occurrences but after pages and pages and more pages gave up. I was specifically looking at Rng states to try and clear up the fact that same digit repeats do happen and it isn't necessarily rigged although it could be. Some additional facts are same digit exacts can happen from evening to midday as well. Many times i have noticed when this happens that the second time it happens they have paid out more $$$ on the number as people tend to play the last number that came out hoping for a repeat.

Excellent info. I am surprised that MD. isn't there since the earliest match date. MD. is ball drawn.

Thank you Todd. In my tracking I've seen it happen many times when the same number but different position hit from midday to Evening as well. That would be a interesting list, too.

I understand why with complete databases for every state there would be billions of numbers. We had 2 recent back to back numbers come out but they weren't exact order, or same day but they were evening to midday. Players who use this method to trap a win would play it combination securing the straight box win. | Thu, Aug 30, 2007 | 1-8-6 | 6-9-2 | 5-6-6-2 | 8-9-8-9 |

This is typical of how it repeats happen most times same digits in different order.

This is typical of how it repeats happen most times same digits in different order. Many states include the complete drawing database, all the way back. New Jersey's goes back into the 1970's, when the games began. I will soon have the entire history of Maryland's installed (back to July 29, 1976). Right now it goes back to 1990 (18 years of data).
