Great day yesterday on the $20 game. Tickets 1-12 contained 2 break evens... 1-8 all losers... Got 13 today and it was another break even. Looks like this game is risk $20 and if you beat the odds you get your money back most of the time. Looks like legal theft to me...

This ticket really stinks. I hope the CA Lottery can take a page from other states and create a new and improved $20 game with a better prize structure--whenever that is. None of this Free $20 Ticket and $20 break-even winner nonsense. Either/or is fine, can't be both. I don't know any other state that does that.
I've spent probably close to $1,000 on this game since it was launched and have never won more than $50 on a ticket. I win $100 frequently on the $5 and $10 tickets...think I would've won at least that by now.

I read a lot of complaints with high denomination games from other states too, in other threads here (e.g., Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, etc.). I recall reading a $30 game had a gap of 13 straight losers.
It looks like Massachusetts is the state lottery to study and learn from (are you listening California?).

Thought Florida and Texas have it good. More variety of high denomination games of at least 3, even a $25 game. I see a bunch of $500 winners in the main scratch off thread.
I do not like our $20 game having played and losing $1000+ myself in a little over a month, not sure what ever happened to the Million $$ Match concept.

I don't know about Texas, but recently some heavy hitters in FL quit playing Scratchers, at least for now, due to payout issues. Something happened to their GRT's. Even skeptic who posted a lot of $500 winners isn't playing much, if any, at all right now.

Bad day today!
2 tickets from liquor store #000 (dud), #001 (break even)
2 tickets from different bins from CVS #005 (dud), #019 (break even)
2 more tickets gone from the roll I was chasing so I got #016-017. Another break even for #016. But #017...

Interesting fact on the news last night. A firm did a detailed analysis on where the winners in CA are and they showed the stats that Santa Clara County, I believe is where most are. What I found interesting and inspiring to continue the fight is that Orange County is #2. I caught the report midway though but it was interesting. It was on KTLA Channel 5 news last night on the 10pm slot.

That is interesting. FYI OC & Santa Clara counties are 3rd & 6th respectively in population for CA counties.
For the 1st 6 CA counties, Santa Clara & OC are 1st & 2nd as far as per capita income (2006 stat).

Do you remember the criteria they used to determine winners? Was it the number of winners? Or, was "winners" defined as the aggregate dollar won per county? I can see how NorCal, Santa Clara County in particular was #1. They have two recent mega jackpot winners from San Jose (half of $636M) and Milpitas ($425M).

Nicely done! Still, for the life of me, this ticket has been overwhelmingly duds with the occasional $25 or $50 win. Just goes to show what happens if you just keep playing...

Has this happened to anyone else? Bought some 20x the Money yesterday, sadly I didn't get the GP, but I did have a few winners. Today, I went to cash one of them, and I was told by another vendor that she couldn't do that because the pack hadn't been activated. I tried it at another store and was told the same thing. I had forgotten the exact place where I bought it, so I went home & emailed CALottery. They got back to me within the hour with the vendors address. Going there tonite to cash my tickets and it will be the last time I buy anything there.
