There is actually a reason behind the number of draws... 150 draws gives each digit a fair chance to appear 15 times.

The 440 for Match 6 has a similar reason, to give each number a fair chance at being drawn 10 times. Even though there are 49 balls and therefore should be 490, it is 440 because of the per column sorted order that the results are in, where each column will only have 44 possible numbers.

It also seems like the default is to use 50 past draws unless set otherwise. I have been using 150 draws for pick 3 and 440 draws

Thanks BobP, great idea to look at the manual.

From what I saw, it looks pretty much like I imagined it would. The draw update process seems a bit cumbersome unless it allows imports. The graphing seems a nice feature.

I did see the use of hot, cold and due, also filtering like even, odd and sum. It's really not that far from what I work with now, only my classifications are Hot, Neutral and Cold. I wonder what their criteria is for determining hot vs cold, and how they differentiate be... [ More ]

Funny, software is just an extension of our own thought process.

Essentially, we initially use our own bio-quantum computer to select numbers by any method using our own bio-software.

Even the current AI hype is an extension of our own bio-software.

I wrote a program that looks for patterns in Pick 3 numbers.

I would claim that it works well in one very specific way.

The program produces zero, one, or maybe two numbers.

This keeps me from playing ten, twenty, thirty or even fifty numbers per draw.

So it works great to help me keep my cash burn rate way down.

And if it ever kicks into gear and starts throwing winners, so much the better

I like the argument from hypersoniq that the lottery is memoryless.

It does not remember the past draws.

This is especially true of ball draws, not sure about computer generated draws.

The truth is if there was a system that worked, we would have jackpot winners almost every drawing or every other draw, but we don't, more so for the bigger jackpots, PB, MM and other larger State games like those in Texas and California.

The strategy deployed for playing depends on goal. As specified earlier my goal is to minimize the cost of long term playing while maximizing chances of winning at the same time. Long term profit is not an objective because statistically it is not going to happen (short term profits are quite possible, thou). Most weeks I have a 0% ROI. But there are 2 reasons why I don't mind...

1. It was a total cost of $14 to play the entire week.

2. The occasional hit on pick 3 is enough to continue on house money for months!

While I can see the value of playing more tickets when they use all of the numbers, there is still no guarantee that they will group enough on the same ticket. If I played a wheel on those weeks I play the 6/49 PA Match 6 instead of just one combo, I would not be content with any... [ More ]

I aim for the truly impossible goals. I play one ticket for any game. I also use Python to explore ideas, and to back test. The challenges when restricting yourself to one combo mean you surely do not win as much, but I am at the lowest budget possible.

I am fully aware that playing more tickets is the only way to slightly bend the odds in my favor, but I am cheap. I have more fun coding in Python than actually playing.

If you find randomness bothersome and preventing you from accurately and repeatedly winning eliminate it. Play all the numbers and don't bother selecting any specific ones. In other words, play wheels only containing all the numbers. No matter what is drawn and how you always have them all. The reason lottery software does not work is because the draws are memoryless . We can analyze past draws ad nauseum, but whatever was found does not carry into the future draws. Even a Markov Chain generator applies probability to the future possible states... why this fails in the lottery is that it is an independent event with no dependency on past or future events. None.

No paid software can give you better odds than just playing a QP (and I am not a fan of QPs). No free software either. They can display statistics in a chosen range just fine, but if you think about it, if these programs worked, they would stop offering the games. From the perspective of an avid hobbyist who likes to code, none of my many attempts worked either (outside of a rare coincidental hit here and there)... I have been at this (on and off) for over 20 years.

I voted It has helped me win but I've never won a jackpot using it.

I base that on the frequency that I have won small prizes using it than my lottery playing friends do that don't have and use it. When people ask me if I think it works, I always say You'll probably see an increase in the number of small prizes that you win, but you're still going to need a lot of luck along with using software to win a jackpot.

depends on what the software promises to do exactly. if it promises to analyze past drawings and then organizes that data for you in a nice digestible format, then it works. lots of players like to know the frequency of numbers hitting in a certain date range, and lots of programs do that.

if it promises to give the winning combinations, then it's junk. if anyone knew how to predict the lottery they would be doing just that, not peddling $29.99 software.

No, it doesn't work. Nothing can predict random numbers in a fair drawing. The balls have no memory and have no preference for being drawn more frequently or less frequently than expected.
