NC Lottery tries persuading lawmakers to expand games
It's amazing how NCEL will trying to instigate ways to beat people out of more money YET, make excuses for education . I am not fond of this at all. I have just about quit playing . They need to be this vigilant about helping TEACHERS get and keep jobs and funding EDUCATION as the games title expresses. NCEL = NORTH CAROLINA EDUCATION LOTTERY

Arizona AG begins investigation of former Lottery director
Lol.....to funny. This is all a ruse to distract people on what was going on for real. How the State borrowed money from a State run Lottery to fund education yet the lottery already gives money for education aka goes to a board appointed by who ever to see where the money goes aka not to education. The Truth is in the fact that it's way under funded and teachers refuse to work here for such a low pay here in Arizona. Pockets are being filled and someone threatened to let the cat out the bag....

Illinois Lottery not paying big winners because state legislature won't pass budget
Sadly, a separate budget is not the norm now days as many states just want more and more and more to fund their pet projects in the general fund. Even more sad is the NCEL - North Carolina Education Fund which has been raided MANY years by the Governor, his Minions and getting worse by the day. I plan to start a petition (very soon) in NC that will ask for many changes to the blatant lottery misnomers (insert another word) in addition to the following as by mid September ALL teachers aid will be

N.C. legislators look to expand lottery
I live in NC and tell you this is about the WORST lottery I have ever seen, misappropriation of educations funds is rampant and they always want more, more, more. --- More ads would generate about $155 million more in lottery sales, according to the lottery and Senate plans, and would return $31.5 million more to education efforts. -- DOUBT IT and I plan to introduce a petition for change of how this money is allocated. Currently, it is the Governor's Piggy bank and I am tired of see

Kentucky Democrats propose taxing lottery tickets
I agree with wasted money in Lottery. The lottery provides money to education, the general fund, housing, and Vietnam veterans. If the state controls lottery why can't they take a certain percentage from those areas, let's say like 2% from them and use that to cover this. I'm not sure about KY but TN's lottey has money going to education but you have to maintain a certain GPA to maintain it. At one time the news had reported the state had a surplus of education benefits because people weren't ma

Prop 1C would change the California Lottery
Sounds like the bait and switch game to me! I lived there when the lottery was first commissioned! I was born and raised in So. Calif. and I voted for the lottery to be started there and now those people are going to have their lottery torn up by changing it and in the long run letting the Education System be RIPPED OFF! This is a BAD IDEA, if it's not broken, don't mess with it! The California State Government is broken, not the lottery and what it was intended for (FUNDING EDUCATION). Don't ma

Tenn. lawmakers want to force lottery to drop computer draws
There is new discussion in the Tennessee Legislature about the possibility of the state lottery going back to using ping-pong balls to select the Cash 3 and Cash 4 winners. In 2007, a computer programming error prevented anyone who played repeated digits, such as two fives in a row, from winning. The error was discovered Aug. 20 when lottery officials contacted the system designer, Smartplay, about their concerns. The lottery is asking Smartplay, and the company that certified the syste

Lottery no game for Tennessee executive
$750,000 is a lot of money. I think TN could have hired a book keeper/accountant and a few lottery players from some other states for 6 times less than what Rebecca makes, and still created the same output she has. The lottery was brought into TN with the intent to make money for education. I think there should be some sort of special program set up for those bonuses to which the money goes into a fund to help counties with education budget problems. I think the education lottery should help all

Expect N.C. lottery changes to affirm education spending
When the North Carolina General Assembly returns for session next week, lawmakers won't have to answer the question they've been asked to speculate on for years: Will the lottery finally pass? It finally did last August. The North Carolina Education Lottery began selling its first scratch-off tickets March 30. Sales had surpassed $100 million by late Friday and should soar when the multistate Powerball gets under way at the end of May. I think they did a great job getting the lottery u

N.C. Lottery misunderstandings could derail bonds
Our worry is that the public will see the lottery as being this great boon and will say, 'Well, we don't need to vote for this bond. The lottery will take care of it,' said Margaret Arbuckle, director of the Guilford Education Alliance, a business group that is a booster for public schools.Maybe the voters in those school districts they're worried about in FL just decided they weren't getting enough bang for the buck when they passed bonds to raise their own taxes. Maybe they're the leading
