Arriving at the lottery headquarters
Down here in the land of hurricane Dennis when we have a winner of the state lottery from this county even if you've had an interview in Tallahassee, the local paper shows up at the front door to the house and also interrogates the neighbors anyway for bits information about the winner. This is funny in a way because the area is growing by such a large amount every year that the article usually consists of the neighbors saying that they don't really know the winner but if they are both outside

how many winners if 1 2 3 4 5 6 happens
Many years ago when the Florida Lotto was real big, I believe I saw an article in the paper (might have been Lottery Players Magazine actually) after someone won that stated there were about 50,000 tickets sold with 1-2-3-4-5-6, and that the payout for those numbers hitting would have been a one time payment to each of around a $1,000.I don't think 5-10-15-20-25-30, etc are good to play either as many players like those kind of sequences also as well as odd and even number sets like 1-3-5-7-9-11

new york leaving mega millions

Ryanm posted the link to megaplier.org, which had a three sentence blurb about NY Gambling Changes. The report was from WTEN, ABC's Albany affiliate, and dealt with VLTs (Video Lottery Terminals) and casinos. A seemingly out of place tack-on sentence

Powerball Matrix Change?
Nice article.... informative.Maybe the ticket for more sales is to increase the jackpot to 300 million, constant, but decrease the chances of anybody winning it to zero. They lost 400 million in sales this year, the guy said. Whereas, they're bound to have lost a little something in payouts, too. They could win both ways by increasing the jackpots, but making sure nobody wins one. In fact, they could afford to make the jackpots even larger.... maybe half a billion or so that way.Jack

MM Drawing for Friday 02-11-05
Tso-gali-I (Friends)I hope we didn't get go-i (grease) on our u-gi-da-li (feather) tonight with all these different number ideas...I feel all u-wa-sa (alone) tonight being the only one that went u-s-ti (small) with the numbers. What the heck , maybe I can bring home some of the ha-wi--ya-u-ka-yo-sv (Bacon) tonight anyway.I read an article where an ka-ma-ma (Elephant) is supposed to be good luck, so my Squaw, Lil' Dove went out and traded for one today. I had to move my Tipi away from the strea

Powerball: $205 Million!
I find this hard to believe Ol Jack has construction companies and bought lots of land. He was a millionaire before he hit powerball I doubt seriously if he is broke. He might have given away and spent most of his winnings. But he's a fry cry from being broke. One of his main businesses is putting in and repairing septic systems which in itself was keeping his pockets full. Since winning he has started several construction business to build developments on the properties he bought. So I would li

PB Drawing for Wednesday 2-4-04
Chief, that's very possible...the range between 11 and 17. actually, today i almost bought a set with the PB# of 13 since i always used to play that number and haven't seen it drawn for the longest time. i might even go ahead and add a set with pb13 before wed. and certainly would consider using that number as we approach 100M. i remember reading a news story here at LP news a few months ago (it's still in the archives) about a guy from washington state who won the state lotto there using 'gold b

I found it, and it pretty much cleared up my questions.But....I'm still not clear if someone would have to pay SS tax (or self employment tax) on lottery winnings.I have had certain years where my SS tax (I was self employed) was higher than my income tax. Thanks, joeno, you just pay the flat tax... even if you are a professional gambler. The government will take 35% of the jackpot r
