KY Floyd, I can only go by what I have personally seen on the packages from the lottery headquarters that are in the store where my friend works! The Big Bold Letters on the outside of the box and the clear plastic wrapping on the play slips states: Do Not Put Out Until 1-07-2009 .

ok i'm not a very bright person and if/win i hit one for over 1mill there won't be no days or weeks before i cash in...it will be about 2 hours as thats how long it takes to drive to Raleigh HeadQuarters...So my question is,for what reason do people obtain lawyers/advisers etc.....can you not just deposit 50 mill in your bank....then worry about it later ??

The Texas winner took the annuity though that's the default choice unless you mark otherwise on your ticket. I hope the Maryland winner signed the back of his ticket in case someone steals it from him before Tuesday when is supposed to go to the Lottery Headquarters to get his ticket verified.

I was wondering, what are the step by step procedures that the lottery officials take in the process of a person claiming the jackpot? What kind of paperwork do they have to fill out?

I think the winner may not be a resident of NC...because no one from my state has came forward yet to claim it. Hey I maybe wrong ....but everybody I know who plays here said if it was them they would of been camped out on the front steps of the headquarters that next morning. I do not think I would have done that but you can bet I would be on my way to Raleigh VERY SOON to claim it!!!

i predicted the huge powerball win would be in iowa,i was in the area,isn't that where the headquarters is?also it was qp's so a lot of people will now purchase qp's.timing,if that person wasn't in that line at that time,someone else would have won.
