Best Scratch Off State
The point I'm trying to make is that some games STILL do not have cash options, that they should be boycotted so that all games allow winners to collect in lump sum. Those who prefer annuity would not be affected. Hence the handle CASH Only .

Best Scratch Off State
NY (and MA) are actually two of the WORST scratcher states because of the numerous annuity-only and Debt-for-Life-type games. PA's million-dollar games are truly so (lump sum) although their life tickets (and Unlucky for Life) _do_not_ have cash options.

Texas Scratch Offs with No Top Prizes
I presume Debt for Life is an annuity-only game. NY has FOUR such games, as well as a number of phony million-dollar scratches.

$50 scratch ticket
Since 2000, when Tax-Free Million was retired, all NY million-dollar scratches have been annuity-only. NY's $10s and the one $20 are no good for that reason. Many of NY's $5s have the same problem, and we still have a $2 Lose for Life scratch.

take 5 scratch off
Are you talking about the New York Lottery's Take Five? If so then absolutely. When counting the free Take Fives it has the best odds in the country. And even if you only count the cash prizes, it would still be the best odds of any $1 scratch in New York. It also pays 65 cents of dollar to prize winners, which is high for a $1 game. In conclusion, buy an Instant Take Five, or buy two, or buy 10. Now in order to save CASHOnly some keystrokes, I will now post his contribution to this thread

Which scratchers do you play?
I stopped buying scratches because quite a few NY tickets are annuity-only. If I did want to buy a scratch ticket, it would be Instant Take Five ($1).

Daily News Lottery Gold
I wouldn't bother with it. NY Lotto is a ripoff, as I've posted many times on LP, and much of the scratch ticket merchandise is for annuity-only games.

Daily News "Lottery Gold" Numbers
I wouldn't bother playing. Most winners get a NY Cheapo 6/59 subscription, and most of the value of the scratch tickets is for annuity-only (no cash option) games.

Lifetime Riches
At least they tell you exactly what you're getting. When the NY Lottery says $1,000,000, they mean $50K each year for 20 years. But when PA says $1,000,000, they mean $1,000,000. If it's an annuity, they'll tell you how much for how long, not the total.

I don't much like the scratchers.
MA and NY are the worst scratch-off states because each has numerous annuity-only prizes. I would play only the $1s and $2s in these states.
