Texas signs contract with Mega Millions; game to begin soon
strange they should force you to pick in wa. state its not even listed on the play slip anymore nor is it listed on oregon's playslip. the multiplier is a lame way to make a small amount of money. they should try to come up with a way of making a bigger pot - we even had a multiplier for the jackpot in on the wa. state lottery - that was the only time i got the multiplier - its worth it if it includes the jackpot. but the extra buck only doubled the prize and the funny thing was someone won it a

Mega Millions Considers Multiplier
It is settled...there is no negotiation...there will be a MM multiplier. However, it won't look anything like PowerPlay, according to informed sources. Instead it will involve a separate, yet to be determined, prize payout table for those who purchase the multiplier .Also, there is the distinct possibility, rumors say, that not all states will offer the multiplier at the roll out. I can't see how that would be able to happen and keep game integrity, but only time will tell for sure.

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
They draw 1 letter. Example: if they draw P, everyone with 2X under their P wins 2X their prize, everyone with 4X under their P wins 4X their prize, and so on. In other words, the lottery doesn't choose the multiplier specifically; rather, a distribution. This is in contrast to the current version where they choose the number and everyone prize is multiplied by this. Instead, they pick 1 of 5 letters and the players' winnings depend on their multiplier under that letter. The 'balls' are just

Powerball eliminates one 5X's slot...
For all of you who think Powerball is doing a great job limiting the number of winners and the amount of payouts here's a story that will warm your hearts: Powerball has wisely decided to reduce the chances of getting a 5X's multiplier by eliminating one of the 5X's multiplier slots. In the past Powerball had 5 slots on a wheel to determne the Powerplay multipler. One slot each for a 2X's...3X's and 4X's multiplier and 2 slots for a 5X's multiplier. Last month Powerball decided to run

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
Well, more of the new Powerball puzzle has been solved. If you have been following along, up until this point, I have established a reasonably-clear understanding of the changes, except for the multiplier distribution. Today I finally got this clarified. As I've said, each ticket prints P-O-W-E-R with 2X, 5X, etc under each letter. This is random, so the multipliers under each letter won't be the same on all tickets. I suspected, and have now seen documentation clearly indicating, that the

New Powerplay Multiplier is a scam (again)
I already lost a lot of interest in the Powerball with the new matrix structure. But the MUSL tried to entice us to use the Powerplay option with a teaser 10X multiplier. The Florida lotto website only shows the multipliers but not the odds of each multiplier occurring. The website makes it appear that each multiplier is equally likely to occur. However, looking at the odds below, I don't think we will see the 10X multiplier more than once a year, if that. It is almost always going to be a paltr

Powerball Powerplay - Is it worth wagering it?
Powerball Powerplay - Is it worth paying the extra $1 (meaning, does it improve the expected value of the return per $ bet)? Short answer - not really. Long answer: It depends on (a) the Expected Value of the Jackpot, and (b) whether you consider improvement of a negative Expected Value of the return (less negative return per $ bet, or in other words, smaller loss) worth it. You can read about how Powerplay works at the Powerball website. Basically, you pay an extra dollar per bet
