Many states' lottery sales are rising in recession
Even in these tough economic times, many people are feeling lucky. More than half of all states with lotteries have reported rising sales over the past six months, and some researchers say financial insecurity might be driving people to risk more of their money than usual on $1 and $5 instant scratch-offs and other daily games in hopes of a big payoff. Someday somebody is going to win and I hope it is me, said Albert Atwood of Nashville, who spends $100 weekly playing the Pick 5 and Lotto

What state uses what terminal?
I would be more than happy to help out. I also can indentify scratch-off manufacturers merely by looking at the ticket. But keep in mind many lotteries use several manufacturers to make the tickets. New Jersey, for example, most of their tickets come from Pollard Banknote and their plant in Michigan, but they also buy tickets from the other 3 instant manufacturers in the US, Scientific Games, Oberthur, and Creative Games (based in my hometown of Plant City, FL). So if you want document insta

Roller Coasters Vs. the lottery...
Lotteries are money making businesses. Why do you think GTECH and Scientific Games are contracted by the states to run them? They setup the games, design the software and terminals to run the games and the maintenance procedures to keep the whole system running. The odds and payouts of the different games aren't just picked out of the air, they are designed to appeal to a particular group of people. You may buy a quick pick and hope to get lucky, but states don't start lotteries hoping to get

The Match 6 format has come to Canada!!
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on June 19, 2006Will Canada come up with more Match 6 clones? The Canadian win for life games have cash options. Maybe, Scientific Games dominates the Canadian on-line market (although they get no Canuck business in their bread and butter instant game division, mostly because Oberthur and Pollard Banknote are based in Canada), and more and more of SG's clients are adding similar games. My guess is SC being the next to add the format. And among Canadian

TV network chosen to air N.C. Lottery drawings
It looks like NC may be the battleground for a challenge to Scientific Games ownership of the Powerball multiplier.NC has decided not to pay Sci-Games for the right to use a multiplier for winners of non-jackpot Powerball winners.Fortunately,NC won't be held responsible for any losses that are incurred due to any lawsuits surrounding the challenge.G-tech has agreeded to pick up the tab for any cost of Sci-Games trademark infringement.Read more here... http://www.newsobserver.com/102/story44

S.C. Lottery suspends sales due to computer glitch
South Carolina Lottery officials suspended sales of the Pick 3 and Pick 4 games Thursday after there was a problem upgrading software. It was not clear when sales or cashing in of winning tickets would resume, South Carolina Education Lottery spokeswoman Tara Robertson said. It's an accounting issue on both parts, in cashing in and on what the retailer owes the lottery on their invoice, she said. If you were to come in and cash a ticket and it was for $1, it may say that it's for $2 or vice ver

Ohio Lottery planning end for Super Lotto game
They should've just added this game to the current line-up as opposed to simply replacing Super Lotto. Sounds like an interesting twist on the Match 6 concept (which is patented by Scientific Games, therefore preventing GTech states from using it). Expect a lot of numbers in this game though, like a 5/55 or something like that.I'm also glad they're moving the Kicker to Mega Millions instead of letting it go down with it's ship. Losing 1 game is bad enough, but replacing 2 games with one really b

N.D. lottery revenues exceed expectations
The lottery tries to keep administrative costs low, Keller said. It has only seven employees, and uses Montana's lottery computer, which is located in Helena, to run its games. The North Dakota Lottery relies on Scientific Games to do tasks normally done by a state lottery's own field employees, Keller said. The lottery adopted a very efficient business model of operation, Keller said. For the lottery to be successful, we had to optimize efficiencies. Appears to keep the corruption opportunit
