PowerPlay also changed!!
Kari:I understand your confusion. On this thread the discussion's about Powerplay. Not the change on Powerball main draw.I made the same mistake as you did when I first began reading the thread. We see what we expect to see a lot of the time, thinks I.Powerplay's the multiplier for Powerball.... went from a long advantage for being 5 to about equal shots for all the multiplier numbers.Jack

South Carolina - Megaplier
NNB,I moved your post to the correct forum (Jackpot Games). You have your terms a little confused. The Megaplier refers to the multiplier for Texas Mega Millions. The Powerball multiplier is called Power Play, and every Powerball state (including South Carolina) has it.

Do We REALLY Want the Megaplier ?
My personal preference is to see as much money as possible go cleanly into the prize structure without tricks or gimicks to make it harder to win the jackpot. If the multiplier prize money comes out of the multiplier charge, then I'm all for it. If it comes even in part out of the tickets sold prize fund, then it is anti-player.I would like to see lottery games run for the benefit of state and players both.BobP

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
So I followed up on this and Texas has apparently published the proposed rule. I believe they are the first to publicize the latest changes. Powerball matrix slated to begin October 7, 2015 (subject to change): Match Odds (1 in X) Prize % of Prize Pool 5 of 5 + PB 292,201,338.00 Grand Prize 68.013% 5 of 5 11,688,053.52 $1,000,000 8.556% 4 of 5 + PB 913,129.18 $50,000 5.476% 4 of 5 36,525.17 $100 0.274% 3 of 5 + PB 14,494.11 $100 0.690% 3 of 5 579.76 $7 1.207%

The Power Play multiplier returns to Powerball
By Todd Northrop Starting with the Wednesday, Jan. 22, Powerball draw, players of the popular multi-state lottery game will have the chance to multiply non-jackpot winning prizes up to five times with the return of the random Powerball Power Play multiplier. Two years ago Powerball's Power Play feature was changed from a random multiplier to a set of fixed prize increases for winners of non-jackpot prizes who purchased the Power Play option for an extra $1 per play. (See Powerball multi

Three tickets to split massive $564 million Powerball jackpot
I was wondering about you and if you were buying a PB ticket ... it was either you or someone had posted they hadn't bought a PB ticket for months near the end of 2014. I guess you bought one ticket ... I only bought one and recouped nothing ... but on Tue I hit the MM four times with my four tickets ... I figured the Mega Ball 15 was due and played it on all four tickets with the five QP numbers. I had one number with the MB on all four tickets, what ruined everything was the multiplier w

Artificial Intelligence
when you talk about back propagation, you're talking about neural networks and connectionism. That's not the only kind of artificial intelligence, the other main branch is heuristics and is closer to traditional programming. Connectionism is mathematically very simple, it's a matrix multiplication, back propagation is adjusting the elements of the multiplier vector up or down according to what the impact of that multiplier should've been. This results in a single layer neural net which is ac

Kentucky Lottery adds new Keno game feature
With the new Bulls-eye feature players only have to match one of their numbers to win. Because a 10-spot pays $5 for matching 0 numbers, IMO adding the Bulls-eye is better than using the multiplier. The odds of the bulls-eye hitting a 1-spot is 1 in 20, but the payoff is $50 for a $2 bet. A $2 bet using neither feature pays $4 and matching a 10 times multiplier pays $20. Hitting the Bulls-eye always multiplies the prize, but there is a 40% the multiplier will be 1 . Players can play both by

$188 million winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold in California
Some Nevadans may prefer to buy their lottery tickets in Arizona, although the trip will be longer. I believe Arizona Last Stop in White Hills, AZ is the first retailer to reached driving from Henderson. California prizes are all pari-mutuel and no multiplier so you may end up with a worse deal on lower tier prizes than the rest of the country, but not always. This Mega drawing the multiplier was 3. Second prize paid $1m or $3m with the multiplier. Third prize was $5k/$15K. For California, s

Do you spend the extra $1.00 for the powerplay?
I do it also, for the very same reasons. Recently I've hit a few of the lowest tier prizes but thanks to the multiplier and paying the extra dollar, I've won $12-16 instead of $4. I kept track of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes won here in Texas for a few months, and it averaged out to only about 25% playing the multiplier. Just a few weeks back, someone here in Texas won a million dollars on one of the national lotteries, but left four million on the table because they didn't spend the extra buck.
