Ultimate Poker to become first legal, real-money online poker site in US
But you have to be physically present within the state of Nevada to play On Tuesday, UltimatePoker.com is expected to launch what will become the country's first fully legal online poker site, with one major catch: it will be limited to those physically present within the state of Nevada. Neither the site nor state regulators have said precisely what means they will use to determine a player's location, but Nevada state officials said previously that it would be far more extensive than sim

Now or Later
MM needs more states so it can better compete with PB. As for Nevada I say no way...the casinos indusrty just doesn't want a lottery. First the Mega Millions slots were supposed to be the Nevada answer to a lottery, then came Nevada Numbers, but I just don't see Nevada becoming a lottery state. (Which is really silly, A.C. does well and Jersey has casinos and lotto).

Confession/Poll
1 state a way for me, because that's exactly what we do, but we live not all that far from the state border. Usually when we go though it's not just to play PB (We're in a MM state). When I lived in Nevada a lot of us would drive from Vegas to a small town in California called Nipton, that had lotto ), but its lotto action has probably all dried up since Primm opened and put a gas station about 3 inches from the Welcome to California sign so they could sell lottery tickets. Before Primm

How has the Wyoming Lottery impacted on Utah?
Nevada residents know that their state is sometimes called 'Whore Nevada' because people from Utah and lots of other places go to Nevada to do their 'dirty work'. So Utahans going to Idaho to play lotto is no big surprise.

Businesses near Nevada border popular for lottery players
I am not surprised, since Nevada does not have a state lottery. On the other hand, with Vegas and all the casinos, I am surprised Nevada does not have a state lottery. New Jersey has a big casino and one of the oldest state lotteries in the country - as far as I know they were the first state to have a daily numbers game (started 5/22/75). Why can't Nevada?

UK Lottery operator plans $500 million global lottery game
I will agree with you that Nevada is dead-set against state lotteries. If the global lottery is annuity based Nevada will most likely pass. However, I see a global lottery with a billion dollar one time payout (give or take a few 100 million) as unique and as a possible exception to the rule. There are so many ways the Las Vegas tourism board can use the world lottery to promote tourism. As you said, you would drive to Nevada to buy a ticket. People already drive and fly for hours to gamble and

nevada lottery
Absolutely not. Remember, lotteries are all about making extra revenue for the state. THey are not about giving anything to the people, outside of a voluntary tax . Nevada has no need to rake in extra revenue, due to the huge amounts the casinos pay to the state in taxes. The state of Nevada would institute a state income tax on its citizens before it would go through the expense of running a lottery. If Nevada doesn't need to have a state income tax, it doesn't need to have a lottery. Their
