Lottery Pool form/agreement
I want to start a lottery pool with a few members of my family and some friends (total 6). After all of the stories I've read about past pool members suing for part of the jackpot, I want to protect the pool members. Does anyone already have an agreement that they can share, or, if not, give me some ideas on what terms to include? Thanks :-)

Ex-wife gets millions from lottery winner 10 years after leaving him
This situation could have been avoided if he had gotten a clean break agreement in his divorce settlement. Even in this country a divorced spouse has a right to share their ex-partners pensions and other monies earned later in life if they don't sign such an agreement when getting a divorce. If he wasn't working at the time and she had a job, it probably didn't seem important to him. Before I retired I was surprised to learn from some of my young co-workers who were getting divorced that thei

Piqua lottery winners sued by co-workers
Hi, and welcome to LP DavidTn That's how is done, when I was managing my club, I used do everything, no matter what happened. From picking the numbers (they wanted me to), collecting the money, filling out the cards, purchasing the tickets, preparing the agreement (which was signed by everyone), and making and distributing the copies of both tickets and agreement. Oh, there was one thing that one of the guys used to help me with, and that was to proof the tickets against the software list of

Group Play Questions
In two cases in the news now winning lottery pools are being sued by people outside the pools who admit they contributed nothing to or signed any agreement with these pools. In the case in California, four co-workers claimed members of the pool agreed verbally a long time ago that if they ever won big in a lottery they would share their winnings with all their co-workers and in Texas a woman claimed that even though she never joined the pool, a friend failed to cover the cost of her joining so

$8 million lottery dispute grips Spain
Blas Landeira Garcia, who organized the pool, told the court that when Lloreda joined the pool six years earlier, he had been informed of the rules. It worked with a pact of confidence that if we won a prize, it would be shared. Lloreda formed part of the group, he said. This sounds like an agreement that's unique to their culture. I can't imagine any American agreeing for the rest of his life to share anything he won in any lottery with a group of co-workers and I doubt if any court

The Rhode Island state Ethics Commission was to vote Tuesday on a proposed settlement that would have House Majority Leader Gordon Fox pay a $10,000 fine for voting on a $770 million, no-bid deal for the lottery company GTECH in which his law firm was involved. If the deal is approved by the panel, Fox, D-Providence, would be spared a potential $25,000 fine, if found guilty.Fox denied knowing his law firm had been hired to work for GTECH when he voted on April 20 on legislation to have GTECH run

$900 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
You actually don't need to do any of that. Especially when the split is only between a few people or closely related people. Having a written agreement, notarized or not, is most beneficial when it comes to protecting yourself against false claims. Simple verbal agreements actually do hold up. If the assertions of all parties involved corroborate each other then it's a verbal agreement. And verbal agreements between small groups of people who split a jackpot are quite common. Verbal agreemen

Do you have to pay tax on a lottery win?
Do you have to pay tax on a lottery win? Her Majesty's Revenue Customs doesn't regard lottery winnings as income, so all prizes are tax-free hurray! However, there could be tax implications once you've banked your winnings. The cash will form part of your estate and be liable for 40% inheritance tax (IHT) if it takes the value of your estate above the current threshold of 325,000. Gifting millions will not save you from paying IHT either: HMRC will tax you on a sliding IH

Lottery Pools
We don't have a written agreement in place and I hope all the members are trustworthy. so there's no dispute about which tickets belong to the pool and which are our own tickets. If it's okay, I'd like to discuss these two items briefly. First, I hope that the (12) years of trustworthiness will also prevail in the event of a winning ticket without an agreement in place. For the record, with the type of money involved here with winning, a signed and notarized agreement should be standa
