Curious why you do not pay for the multiplier? I would kick myself forever if I hit 2nd place without the multiplier. Lol

Yup. I use identical strategy. 5 tickets of same numbers ($15 per draw) for both powerball and mega millions while selecting powerplay and multiplier options. Like you said, I'm aiming to match 5 not the jackpot. Especially with mega millions, and depending on the multiplier numbers, the prize can get significantly higher than powerball. Hopefully we can hit the second prize and people on here comment about the lottery being rigged. Lol. Given how many people use the same strategy, I'm surprised

Not buying the multiplier is the smartest move he's ever made. Don't you kick yourself 50% harder when you waste $15 vs $10?

They draw megaplier/power play when the winning numbers are drawn, not a day before. The Power Play multiplier number is chosen at random just before the Powerball winning numbers are drawn. The Megaplier multiplier number is chosen at random by computerized drawing in Texas at around the same time the Mega Millions numbers are drawn in Georgia.

The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less . There are a total of 43 Balls (when the 10X multiplier is available) but the majority of them are 2X. There are couple of 3X's, 4X's and 5X's and one 10X when the jackpot is 150 million or less. Right now, 10X is unavailable. Also the second place prize with The PowerPlay option is a set prize of two million, it makes no difference what the actual PowerPlay number is if you match the 5 white bal

Yes, lately since the jackpots are so high, it's quick picks only at the counter with the clerk. And, they have a stack already printed without the multiplier option. They grab a preprinted ticket from a stack next to the register, and give it to you after you pay. The tickets aren't even bring printed live.

Good question. I always play for 2nd place so like the mm multiplier. But I favor PB because my grandmother used to play it for $1 when it first started. She would win her money back about every 2nd or 3rd try.

I can get a hit off of terminal QP's now and then so that is what I like to play since I just play one or two tickets for powerball and mega millions. Granted it will usually be just the powerball so I use the multiplier with it for extra money.-weshar75
