With many cities reducing their budgets and citizens asking for less government in their life, even dumb looking lottery players should start running their own sting operations. If they can't check their own tickets and make sure the clerks are not cheating them then maybe they shouldn't play.

In MegaMillions, there is no hour cut-off time before the drawing, you can purchase tickets up to 10-15 minutes before the drawing in Ohio. I have cut it as close as 10:45PM even though some clerks have told me I still had 5 minutes. Some stores cut off sales earlier because they shut down their operations earlier while 24 hr. service stations sell tickets right through the drawings but their terminals start printing tickets for the next drawing 10 minutes before the present drawing. Out of $1.... I think $.50 goes into the prize pool... $.30 goes to Education... The remaing $.20 goes to retailers and lottery operations.
