do we have to pay any tax if win small?
If you do win enough to have to pay taxes, just save your losing tickets to write off some of the winnings when you itemize your taxes.

Where do you keep your tickeks?
I don't keep tickets unless they're winners. I throw away all losing tickets either the same night as the drawing or the next day. I know people save tickets in case they win big, and deduct the losses from the taxes owed. I just can't imagine myself winning 20 million after taxes, one lump, and worring about a lousy 2 to 3 thousand in one year's accumulation of losing tickets. It just wouldn't be worth the energy and time.

Lottery Code has already been broken
Making money with .25 tickets means you must have LOTS of winners that you could show without giving away your system. Do you save all the losers and winners for taxes?

i won last year... what will my tax return look like?
i always threw away my losing tickets until i actually won... then i was told that since the $97k was my main source of income for the year of 2011-2012, i am technically a professional lottery player , and was told to save all my future losing tickets for next years taxes... i haven't counted them yet, but i would assume it's around $2k or so worth. i'd find it hard to believe i won't get anything at all back... when i get taxes with held from my actual job, i get a good chunk back in a year

What if you don't win 20 million or so, but something just enough to be reportable? Wouldn't you want to write the losers off against that?

Either she was very stupid or tried to commit fraud.
Seriously If I was the person behind you in the line I would have been supporting your right to receive fair pay for fair play. You won it honestly and deserved the correct payment back. I had the same thing happen with a clerk who has mastered confusion. I deliberately save up my weekly win. Tabulate them and place my final total on a sheet with a copy of the tickets. He argued for ten minutes that the machine is NOT wrong. So I showed him my COPY of each ticket the correct winnings eac

Do you keep track of how much you spent on lottery and have lost?
Yeah, Ga. has that double insult as a Game...it seems to be for 3rd party Marketing purposes..!! Getting players to send in losing tickets, or engaging their websites to read your phone's/computer's cookies,.. praying on hopes of still winning something after already losing once.. Never have talked to anyone who's ever won anything on such 2nd go around..!! I only save my tickets for Tax purposes..when you win , you can write-off your lottery losses against any taxes owed... -S

Do you save all your losing tickets?
I do save my losing lottery tickets for tax purpose but the one time I won a prize large enough that the state sent me a W-G form I couldn't use them. For tax purposes lottery winnings are treated like regular income and your overall loses including the amount lost playing the lottery has to be greater the standard deduction that every one gets. Since you can only claim a lost up to the amount you won, you can only claim a lot if you won a lot. That particular year I spent ~$3000 on lott
