Deadline looming for unclaimed $15M lottery jackpot
All the major prizes that have gone unclaimed in Alberta since the inception of Lotto 6/49 combined don't add up to the amount the latest unclaimed jackpot is worth, Western Canada Lottery Corporation officials said Monday. The lucky, but unwitting owner of a ticket worth $14.9 million is about to let Lady Luck slip out of reach, with time to claim the prize running out next week, said WCLC spokesman John Matheson. That ticket will expire on June 7 and as of now, no one has come forward

Massachusetts store clerk indicted after stealing lottery ticket worth $3 million from customer
That's interesting, G5. I read through the CA regulations and the only instance of bearer instrument is this paragraph talking about tickets bought at the pump. Receipts issued by Fuel Pump Terminals that indicate numbers played are not traditional Lottery Tickets, are not bearer instruments, have no cash value, and are not evidence of the right to the chance to win a Prize or Promotional Award in a Lottery game. Elsewhere in the regs I also found this paragraph: If the Lottery esta

Unclaimed Mega Millions
Adding it to the current pot would be pretty cool though. Adding it to the current jackpot makes some sense, but that would need to be well publicized, so announcing that it will be added to a future jackpot might make more sense. Perhaps using unclaimed prizes to fund an annual raffle would be a good choice. That way there's just one drawing and there are guaranteed winners. Of course the purpose of the lottery is to make money for the states, not the players, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

First lawsuit in state lottery-fixing scandal seeks millions
Well, duh. They always reset the jackpot after they think there has been a jackpot winner. Which state lottery announces we thing there was a jackpot winner ? Since there wasn't really a winner the jackpot should have rolled over instead of being reset. Yep and that's the basis of this lawsuit. The point you're missing is there are no lottery rules or guidelines to deal with a rigged drawing. Iowa is probably using the same guidelines the use for unclaimed prizes. Dawson's case

Yeah- hope someone is listening.... Avoiding Unclaimed Lotto Tickets The good news is there are several things you can do to avoid having unclaimed prizes and make sure you cash in on any winning tickets. Lawmakers going after unclaimed lottery money
So a guy walks into a gas station, buys a scratch-off, wins a few bucks, gets distracted with some fool thing and eventually puts the lucky ticket through the wash in his Wranglers. It happens. No big deal. But for state lawmakers in a tough budget year nationwide, the unclaimed prizes are adding up to a tempting pot of cash. It's something we've seen an increased interest in this year, said Jon Griffin, a policy associate at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Washington.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
gatorsrok: It's late but I know I had some ideas for this. I saw that media release too. Along with your #1 I'd like them to make a point of recording somewhere, such as in the PDF of the listed winners of grand prizes, that the prize was deactivated/destroyed. I'd also like them to fully explain what they do with the leftover money from games with unclaimed prizes (primarily with unclaimed grand prizes). As I've mentioned, they've told me they roll it over into new games. But I don't unde

$2.5M Indiana lottery ticket found in the nick of time
Eric White didn't realize he'd left $2.5 million sitting on the desk in the office in his Indianapolis home for six months. On Friday, he and his wife, Lori, cashed in, beating the odds by turning in the winning Hoosier Lotto ticket from the Aug. 19 drawing a week after the lottery officials said the prize wouldn't be awarded because the 180-day deadline had passed. Officials extended the deadline to Feb. 22 after saying the date had been miscalculated. Lori White, 38, said she sent her hu

$239 Million Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot Remains Unclaimed
Nearly a month after a Mega Millions ticket matched all six numbers to win a $239 million jackpot, the whereabouts of that ticket -- and the identity of the person who bought it -- are still unknown. The ticket was purchased at Red Apple in Stephens City, Virginia for the February 20, 2004 Mega Millions drawing. It was the only ticket in that drawing to match the winning numbers 01-13-20-21-30 and the Mega Ball number 24.Since that drawing there has been a large amount of speculation, but no one
