$63 million California Lottery ticket expires soon
State no longer publishes surveillance video of ticket purchases to find winners
A $63 million Super Lotto prize may become the largest unclaimed prize in California, but many prizes big and small go unclaimed every year, a spokesperson for the California Lottery Commission said Saturday.
Roughly $25 million per year in winnings are not claimed, said Alex Traverso.
So, it's quite a bit of money when you add it up, he said.

EuroMillions lottery jackpot of $102 million goes unclaimed
In the United Kingdom, a mystery lottery player has lost out on a 64 million (US$102.5 million) fortune after the deadline to claim the prize expired and the money was handed to charity.
The unlucky individual, who bought the winning EuroMillions ticket in Hertfordshire on June 8th, had until 11pm yesterday to collect the massive windfall.
But despite a National Lottery publicity campaign, the would-be multi-millionaire missed the 180-day deadline making the 63,837,543.60 prize the biggest

Indiana $1 million Powerball prize goes unclaimed
The champagne wishes and caviar dreams of the person in Indiana holding April's winning Powerball ticket will officially remain just those wishes and dreams, if not a nightmare after failing to claim their $1 million prize.
Indiana's 180-day window for lottery winners to come forward came to a close Monday for the unlucky soul who purchased the lucky ticket in the April 10 drawing at the Circle K in Jeffersonville.
It is rare, but not unheard of, that a prize of such magnitude goes unclai

What happens to prizes that are not claimed?
Florida law requires that 80 percent of unclaimed prize funds from expired tickets be transferred directly to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. The remaining 20 percent is returned to the prize pool from which future prizes are awarded or used for special prize promotions.
Should a POWERBALL or MEGA MILLIONS jackpot ticket not be claimed within the 180 days of the applicable draw date, t

First lawsuit in state lottery-fixing scandal seeks millions
It's not about saying could , it's about your apparent inability to understand what actually happened. The jackpot for the rigged drawing didn't go unclaimed. The reason Tipton rigged it was so that he could claim the a jackpot. He did claim it, but the lottery didn't pay it. Do you understand the difference between a valid prize not being claimed by the rightful winner and a prize not being paid because it wasn't really won?
This case is going to have absolutely no effect on how unclaimed pr

254 million dollar ticket
Copied and pasted from the FAQs on the Powerball website:
Except for the jackpot (and the BONUS prize whenever it is in effect), all unclaimed prizes are kept by the lottery jurisdiction that has the winner. About half of the lotteries are required to put the money back into a game. The other half is required by law to turn the money over to the state's general fund. The jackpot money and BONUS prize pool are treated differently. If these two prize pools are unclaimed, The money must be retur

Canadian 6/49 giveaway
Seems like a real bonus round going off for the 6/49 game. A winner at 12 million so the prize moves to 18 million. A winner at 18 million so the prize goes to 20 million. A winner at 20 million so the prize goes to 22 million.
The whole concept of bonus rounds is missing in the US. Here any unclaimed prize is just more money to the state not the players who made those prizes possible.
Might be another round in June when or if $15 million goes unclaimed in the 6/49 game.

unclaimed Canadian Lottery tickets
No there isn't a list of unclaimed prizes. All lotteries after one year of the draw date put any unclaimed prize money into an unclaimed prize fund . This fund is then returned to the players through bonus draws and bonus jackpots in the case of Lotto 649 and Super 7. This past month there has been four large bonus jackpots for Super 7. For example, even though the $27 milllion was won last week; the jackpot is at $30 million for this Friday-- thanks to the money in the unclaimed prize fu

Last hours for unclaimed $50 million Florida Lotto ticket
A $50 million FLorida Lotto jackpot winner either isn't aware of his fortune or was waiting almost literally to the last minute to claim the prize. If the single winning ticket holder of the March 12 jackpot doesn't claim the prize by 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, the money goes back to the Lottery. That would be a bummer, said Lottery spokeswoman Sheila Griffin. The ticket was sold in Miami-Dade County at Kohl's Food Market in North Bay Village. I think somebody lost that ticket, no doubt about it, said

Costa Rica court rejects washed lottery ticket
All I said was a good faith attempt to verify the claim was needed by the lottery and court. Having one claiment and one unclaimed prize goes a long way toward putting that attempt together.
Like you, I would like more details to base a judgement on. If the guy produced a year's worth of past tickets playing the same combination, that would help. Though maybe he forgot to play that week and washed some old ticket into an illegible lump to make a false claim, but he would also have to count
