Audit: Stores buying Michigan lottery tickets from players
Some Michigan stores that sell lottery tickets are hitting the jackpot by buying winning tickets from desperate players at a discount, according to auditors who are urging a crackdown on the illegal practice.
Lottery players who owe back taxes or other debts don't want the state to learn their identity. So they're probably selling winning tickets back to retailers for less than what they're worth, the audit found.

Puerto Rico joins Powerball today

Tonight's Powerball drawing is the first in which residents of Puerto Rico can participate and win in one of the world's most popular lottery games.
The Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Lotteries Puerto Rico, Antonio P rez L pez, reported that ticket sales for Powerball started on the island as of 11:00 am Sunday. More people playing, winning in SC Lottery
The South Carolina Education Lottery announced Monday it set records for ticket sales and the amount of money raised for education in the last fiscal year. It also set records for the amount of prize money paid out and the commissions paid to lottery retailers.
Lottery revenue was more than $1.26 billion for the year. Ticket sales grew by $66 million, which meant the amount that got deposited into the lottery's education account was $323.4 million, or $23 million more than the previous year.

Wisconsin man's two winning lotto tickets said to be "misprints"

Ivory Mitchell thought he had two $1,000 dollar winning crossword scratch tickets back on July 20th.
When he tried to cash them in, he was told there was an error and that the tickets were misprints.
He thinks the Wisconsin Lottery should pay up for a mistake they made.

New keno game boosts sales for Kentucky Lottery
The Kentucky Lottery's new keno game hasn't attracted as many retailers as projected, but sales have exceeded expectations since it launched late last year.
