If you win the jackpot on the lotto and were to give
That's why I suggested having it withdrawn from a bank and keeping the bank receipts with the money. That way if, for whatever reason, a cop searches your home and finds tens of thousands they would at least have some clue that it did in fact come from a bank. Also if they questioned how you came about so much money you could probably mention the lottery (if you didn't claim anonymously/with a blind trust) or have them speak to your lawyer which could likely settle it. Of course I would

If you win the jackpot on the lotto and were to give
You could probably say that y'all bought the tickets together. That's what pools do. Of course in that scenario it would probably be split 50/50 (you and them as a couple), saying y'all went in as a group but then not divide the winnings evenly may look fishy to either the lottery or the government. I've read some members on here mention creating a trust or LLC and you can add whoever you want as a part of that group and you won't have to pay the gift tax. I believe you could still claim

What if you hold the winning ticket?
Adding to my previous post, if it was a solo winner of either PB or MM I would go to set up talks with the W Residences in Austin. Some may consider that a bad idea as it would be a quick choice on a big purchase, but having thought about it for some time I can tell you it's not really a rush decision. I've considered living in Austin for some time and have been keeping up with the W since it started construction. I would probably take the ticket with me to Austin (maybe using wheeltowin's i

Would you let your close friend know
I haven't had to deal with finding out who my true friends are yet, but thanks to being a pretty private person I only keep a few friends so the friends I have are all close (have quite a few casual acquaintances ). Of the 5 or so real friends, I would only tell one of them if I had won it big. He has been my closest friend for years plus we live in different cities now, don't share groups of friends and most of the people he hangs out with are well off so even if he did tell them they wouldn't

Random Observations & Things To Ponder
The annuity doesn't end with your life, the remainder of the payments is still with the annuity which is part of your estate but your heirs would have to pay a hefty inheritance tax on it. If I won an American jackpot that was large enough, I would consider the annuity payments even though my Doctors expected me to die years ago however it would be through a blind trust both to preserve anonymity and to avoid inheritance taxes. Interestingly, there is one game in Western Canada called PayDay

Lets Dream
Sorry to hear about your state not allowing you to go unnamed in the Blind Trust. Doesn't seem to be exactly Blind does it lol I am presently working on winning the Two Step in Texas. Just got some personally made software based upon method I use to tracking. It doesnt predict but rather is a Controlled Number Generator where I am able to set specific perimeters before generating combinations. If it works for Two Step I am going back for software for Mega Million and PB with an expanded versi

Best place for a large Lottery Winners to Live
The rich part of your town? If I were to win I already plan on moving within 2 years to the country club here. Seems a good fit, there isn't a bad neighborhood near it, it's in the expanding part of town where the nicest houses are/will be and since everyone else around me would be pretty wealthy themselves I wouldn't have to worry about much or standing out. Of course I plan on collecting with a blind trust so I wouldn't really be judged as not having actually earned my money. But I mea

Should illegal immigrants be able to claim lottery prizes?
someone as anyone can get a lawyer, and setup a blind trust, o it could be done so its a mute point, you can't stop them form buying things in stores and you can't stop them form claiming if their smart about it, even if you made 100000 laws agiant it

Why do you need a lawyer to pick up your lottery check?
I wouldn't bring a lawyer unless I was doing a blind trust, in which case it wouldn't JUST be a lawyer but someone much more (as they're essentially in control of all the winnings). For taxes and whatever, you deal with that later (I would assume later, since taxes are paid on a certain day of the year) so you wouldn't need one there with you when you collect your money. Even then you wouldn't necessarily need a lawyer as much as you would an accountant or someone reliable to do your tax

So you won a jackpot! Congrats!
In Texas the only way to claim anonymously is to set up a blind trust, which if I won I don't think I'd do. The most I would do is just wait a while after I won to turn in the ticket, somewhere around 4-5 months (wouldn't want to wait too long or else news stories would pick it up again as here you only have 6 months to claim prizes). Maybe I could time it with a major news story so that would get more attention than a lottery winner claiming the jackpot. It would be nice to not have peo
