I was wondering. If you can claim megamillions jackpot in a blind trust. Could you claim the 2nd tier prize (250,000) in a blind trust . Would this work on the pick 5 games also? Ohio rolling cash 5 prize can reach a large amount.

Blind Trust privacy and control of funds
from eHow For many people, the most unappealing aspect of the blind trust is giving complete control to the attorney. However, the trusts are created through an agreement between the executor and the beneficiary. You can outline what things the executor is allowed to do with the funds. You can also revoke a blind trust at any time, if you add this provision into your agreement in the beginning. (revoking a blind trust will give all the assets to the trustee, so you definitely want

I agree with you about the trusts. Out of curiosity I spoke to the Ohio lottery this morning and they confirmed that you do have to have a blind trust. That doesn t make a whole lot of sense to me but that is what they said. Maybe the lawyer just set up the blind trust and directed it to pass on the money to the second trust but I m not sure I trust enough to have someone else directing my money to do anything.

Yea, that is bizarre. People think a blind trust means your identity is blinded but it just means someone else has control and decision making authority for the money and you are blinded from input. A lot of judges have to have blind trusts and politicians. I would assume all the SCOTUS judges would have to have their money in a blind trust because of the cases they decide. Yea, it must mean the attorney collecting it via a blind trust...the claiming trust. But it still is bizarre. A dishones

Claiming florida lottery with blind trust...
A blind trust is a financial arrangement in which a person in public office gives the administration of private business interests to an independent trust in order to prevent conflict of interest. Under the trust, the owner does not know how the assets are managed. It's probably possible for people not in public office to get a blind trust, but why would anyone not want to know how their money was being invested?

Blind Trust States or Name Change?
Does anyone know which Mega Millions states allow winners to claim as a blind trust? If a state does not allow it.... how feasible of an idea would it be to consider changing your name prior to claiming a prize (so that the new name is the one published all over the internet). There are many locations - that although they require a name change to be published in a local newspaper - the newspaper does not have an online edition and therefore wouldn't be published online. It would be easy

Very interesting Lotto Lucy. I have always mentioned I thought 2 trusts would be needed but those trusts were not blind trusts and the article ones are regular trusts, unless I missed something. A blind trust just allows someone else to manage and make decisions about your money and you have no control so I would not recommend one for a lottery win. You do not need a blind trust. One trust to allow the counsel to represent and claim and another one to deposit it. The Ohio people are wrong about

I think Michigan is #5. Michigan only games like their lotto game can be claimed anonymously but if you win a multi-state game like Powerball there is no anonymity. The Ohio lottery has told me you can only claim their lottery anonymously if you claimed with a blind trust. Here is a recent article written by an attorney who represented a winner. I m not 100% sure if what he did is considered a blind trust or not: https://www.altickcorwin.com/Articles/How-To-Claim-Lottery-Winnings-Anonymo
