Probability of a rollover in PB and MM
Well, for the odds of winning just $2, the reason it's not 1 in 52 is because you also have to figure the odds that you will NOT match any of the white balls. You use the following formula: The numerator for figuring the odds of matching X number of white balls is always: (52*51*50*49*48) / 120 = 2,598,960 In other words, there are 2,598,960 possible combinations of the first five white balls. The odds that you will match X number of white balls is as follows: 2,598,960 / ((120/(X! * (5-

1 winner in mega for 150 in georgia
Although a $400 million jackpot would be fun and interesting , why does anyone on here - who I am quite sure have never hit the astronomical 135 million to 1 jackpot odds - think they have to make the odds even more astronomical? Is it because you are concerned with the states not making enough money, or because a jackpot of $100-150 million somehow isn't enough? I don't get it. Okay, I admit it does seem strange that the jackpots have been won so often after they increased the odds (wasn't

Do you think it's time for a PB / MM merger?
Or they could merge the white ball sets and the red ball sets and make it a 5-of-139 + 1-of-51 game with odds of 1 in 20.5 billion. Combine two sh***y odds games into one sh***ier odds game. Personally I wouldn't affect me much as I only buy about a dozen lines of PB and MM in a year. I'd rather see a game with better odds like Lotto America rolled out to all the states.

T-minus and counting. 112 days until...
Very high odds in your Mm and Pb and almost impossible to win...that is were quick picks come in ....most of these high jackpots where won with quickpicks.I agree with you there the odds were high and impossible and adding more megaballs to it just made it almost unplayable. You basically sit with 2 powerballs now as their odds are the same.Only the MegaSena have higher odds so your 2 lotteries are up there being the hardest to win.Sure its gonna influence their sales too

How Far Will The Mega Millions Go Before Odds Make It Impossible For Anyone?
The odds of winning the jackpot are increased to 1 in 258.9 million; however, odds of winning any prize will decrease to 1 in 14.71. Why increased the overall odd?

Powerball or Megamillions The odds are against you..
The odds are just to high against you to win.The odds are more in your favor for pick 3,pick 4 ,pick 5,easy 5,cash 5 and Lotto.Over the long run you can win more with these than powerball or megamillions.I've won a lot more with pick 4 than powerball .

Same Mega Ball three drawings in a row...
Remember that the odds are 1 in 2116 starting at any certain drawing that the two after will be the same BB. Divide the odds by the number of total drawings, is the odds that it would happen sometime in that period. Once the first two have already occurred, the odds on the third one are (ideally) 1 in 46 as usual. I thought I heard the Mega Millions Company is deciding now to remove the lead core from the #26 ball and put it into the #.. opps, gotta go!

Better odds??
I know the odds of winning any lottery game is like a 1,000,000,000 to 1, but i was wondering, do you think your odds go up or down or stay the same when there are alot more people playing? take the MM jackpot for example.

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
KY Floyd, this is interesting. First everyone is telling me that chances aren't the same as odds. Actually, I agree on that to a point, but now you are using the above as an example to prove that the odds are cut in half if you purchase 2 tickets. Yes, if you have 2 people standing outside during an electrical storm there's a greater chance that someone will get hit than if nobody is outside at all. I mean, if nobody is outside then it won't happen at all. Buying 2 tickets does give you t

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
I'm only saying what KYfloyd and John said but a little differently. The odds are listed as 1 in 175,711,536. If you buy 2 tickets, the odds are 2 in 175,711,536. But the odds are always listed as 1 in something. So what would 2 in 175,711,536 be in terms of 1 in ???. Its the same as 1 in 87,855,768. If someone buys $87,855,768 worth of tickets while making sure they are all different combinations, their odds are 87,855,768 in 175,711,536. But what is that in terms of 1 in ???. Its 1 in
