My questions about Scratchers
AND, with the odds stacked as they are, is there really any better odds in the cards that charge 10, 20 or 30 dollars? Sure the top prizes are bigger, but that's just the lure. I suspect they cannot possibly offer better odds because the same restriction of where the physical winning cards are is the same. You do not have access to pick any one of every card in a given game. This question I can never get answered by anyone that answers any official lottery contact number in NY, NJ, or Pennsylvan

Using data to analyze and exploit scratch ticket distrubtion
It depends on the state. Pennsylvania has a map where you can click on a country and see how much money has been paid out from that county. It also shows you the name of the person who claimed the prize. One intention I've had is to see if there is a particular name winning more than their fair share of a particular game. I'd have to adjust for how common names are. They don't give people's full names. They'll give first name last initial. So I would need a way to determine, for example, that

Oh my God, good luck to you omiller315. Cool how Pennsylvania does that, it seems like there's a lot of lottery players in the state for there to be winners up to $2500. You still have to pay income tax though, right? Still, it's encouraging, a nice amenity for the players. Actually, now I remember all those $1k prizes that were put on the retailer's wall in your pictures, (the $3,000,000 too...) there were quite a few! You guys like to play out there in PA. That's cool.

College Student Who Just Got into Scratchers – Advice?
Win It All and Red Hot Crossword are both good $5 cards. $1 and $2 cards in Pennsylvania suck, the top prizes are just too lame to justify buying them. If your budget is on the lean side and $10 cards are a little too steep, go with the $5 cards. Good luck!

Pennsylvania Scratch Off Update (ODDS)
I just sat down and recalculated the odds for quite a few of the games as the P.a lottery updated the remaining prizes this morning. To keep this short I'll post the best 3 out of the bunch I did this morning. These numbers are certainly not 100% accurate for obvious reasons but updated odds are sure to be close. If anything looks off please let me know. My formula for this was lowest prize remaining winners x odds for that prize divided by top remaining prizes. $20 Ticket Merry Milliona

Guess it was the whole gift idea of not giving them a potential zero.lol I would play a $50 one to say I played it, but no way could I chase. Even at the casino in slots, I never venture over the $1 machine. Guess one day I should try one of the big $ slots to see what happens. Guess the $100 per pull doesn't pay $20 guaranteed back:) Found this 2002 press release http://www.casinocitytimes.com/news/article/pennsylvania-lottery-launches-holiday-instant-ticket-games-130188
