$57M Mega Millions lottery winner is sex offender with criminal past
I'm waiting to see stories that start Lottery winner is a traffic offender with a leadfoot past or Lottery winner is extra flatulent; everyone hurries past The lottery is not about some (mostly self-perceived) goodness as a person. Want to be rewarded for your goodness , go to church ... or court.

Non believers
when i read some of the winners stories the same family and friends who told them they would never win and they were wasting their money are the same people who asked the lottery winner for some of the winnings or complained that the lottery winner was greedy and should give them more of the winnings. i have only been old enough to play for 11 years so thats how long i have been playing and i believe i will win big one day and i hear negative comments just like you hear so hang in there and you

Police foil alleged plot to kidnap lottery winners
It's stories like this that will make it easier to stay anonymous after a win. It's only a matter of time before a lottery winner gets killed and a winner who warns the lottery that they might be in danger could win twice. Or their heirs at least. Yet another reason to stay anonymous after a win. Better to have a trust as the winner and pay a lawyer to collect the check (better be safe on that one though).

NEW POLL: Have any of you met a lottery winner?
Most people have never met a lottery jackpot winner because there just aren't that many of them. One winner generates a hundred stories so it just seems like we're hearing about them all the time. Years ago when I matched 5/6 in the Ohio Super Lotto for $1500, the clerk who had worked in that store for over 5 years said I was the first person in her experience to win that much lottery money. Last month when I match 4+0 in MegaMillions for $150 at another store, the clerk said that was the big

NY subscription winner a LOSER
One of this morning's front-page stories is about a NY Lotto play-by-mail customer who bought a subscription several months ago. NY still requires the cash/annuity choice WHEN you play, in person or by mail; the choice is binding, despite the 1998 change in IRS rules which led to many states/games allowing the lump sum/annuity choice to be exercised after you win, when it should be made. Anyway, the man chose 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS . You know the rest. This is actually BAD publicity for the NY Lott

unfair practices and odds
At ScratchSmarter, we are very leery of any merchant selling lottery tickets over the counter - particularly the mini-marts, beer distributors and cigarette shops where the clerks have nothing better to do with their spare time than to keep an eye on the lottery games they're selling. It's really unfair to be targeted by these vultures where they're able to increase their odds of winning simply by observing which tickets are winners which are losers by dealing with the customers buying the t

Learning Something New Everyday
Watching CNN cover the PB Jackpot over the holiday, I learned something about Lottery Officials. Someone from the Nebraska Lottery actually stated that when the winner came forward, if they didn't have proper legal and financial representatives, they would recommend appropriate names and places. I guess they are tired of all the horror stories about winners blowing Jackpots, and its to the Lottery Assn. interest to have positive stories about people handling their Sudden Wealth in appropriate

Why are lottery winners dying??
Quote: Originally posted by twisted on December 4, 2004 It seems to me that negative stories make the news because they are more interesting (to the general public) than the positive stories. You always hear of how a lottery winner lost it all after winning or how he died right after winning the big one. You dont hear much of how peoples lives have been positively impacted by winning the lottery.I guess the world we live in today is the world where people's misery is more interesting. Just like

dull lotto news
Quote: Originally posted by golotto on February 22, 2004 Quote: Originally posted by goose on February 22, 2004 Do you think most lotto news are unattractive?Indeed yes!Lottery winner itself is an exciting news but since it has nothing to do with ourselves and what we could do is to admire and pray for a chance to win.whats your opinion about it? gooseGoose,I must take issue with this one. The Lottery News is a five-star feature of this site. The time and effort that goes into finding these in
