Sibling battle over $32M lottery win lands in court
It basically comes down to one fact: no proof. The sister has no proof and therefore deserves nothing. Even if there was a verbal agreement, you just can't realy on a verbal agreement. Get it on paper. Basically it's a he said, she said. That's what it boils down to. And if the judge awards her any money, I just might quit playing myself.

Man accused of stealing $10,000 lottery ticket from co-workers
We've certainly seen plenty of reports of lawsuits, but there seem to be a fair number of winning pools where we don't hear about any lawsuits. I'd guess that the percentage is 10 to 25%, which would mean there probably wouldn't be a lawsuit, but the chances are high enough that having a solid agreement in place is clearly very important. One of the things the agreement should cover is how tickets will be purchased for the group, and how personal tickets can be purchased by any person responsibl

You buy a 2line ticket to pool with 1 person but they don't pay the $1
No, the agreement was to pay me the 1 buck BEFORE the end of their shift if they wanted in. I think the person knew they didn't have a dollar from the beginning and thought I would front them. The agreement was also that they would sign the back of the ticket next to my name when they paid the dollar thus making the contract complete.

Lottery win is early wedding gift
When a couple get married in a public setting regardless of their trust of each other, they are completing a legal contract witnessed by friends and family. What's different about prenuptial agreement? Couples who don't want a binding contract, agreement or understanding don't get married, they shack-up or maintain a friendship with benefits and no obligations.

Oregon winners and gift tax.
What they have done is no different that what hundreds of thousand, if not millions, of players do - formed a pool and had the ability to show prior existence of the agreement. Being related has nothing to do with the split. All you have to do is convince the right people of a prior condition; agreement to split between the winners.

Three scratch ticket players eligible for $1 million drawing
What they did in Michigan was make an agreement before the draw. Then after the draw, they submitted the agreement to the Lottery officials and the Lottery officials split the prize. If the money is paid to one person and the person gives the others their money, then there are serious negative tax implications.Good luck,Jake

Ohio lottery pool lawsuit focuses on time of purchase
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on January 14, 2005 Quote: Originally posted by fwlawrence on January 14, 2005This is why you should never play in pools (that create the rules after the drawings). A lottery pool should have a written agreement that each member understands and have copies of its tickets available to each member before the drawing.RJOhi agree with both of you. i've tried playing in a pool before in the dorms, and we all had a written agreement concerning payment of prizes over $1
