Forming a trust to claim prize
Quote: Originally posted by rundown99 on March 17, 2005 I know that in states like Ohio and New Hampshire, you can form a trust to claim a prize, because it was actually done in those states. But can you do it anywhere? So if the jackpot was won in Nebraska or South Dakota or Pennsylvania, could you still form a trust and remain anonymous? The WLT Trust was formed in Pennsylvania a while back to claim a large Powerball jackpot but the names were still shown on the Powerball news article. The Du

Did Newsom just set a precedent for winners to remain anonymous in California?
Recently they had two or three lottery drawings for people who got the Covid vaccine to win various cash prizes. The winners of this were all given the option to remain anonymous. I haven't seen a single winner step forward to put their face/name out there in public. Surely this has now set a precedent for winners of the regular lotteries to do the same?

The lucky ticket-holder has opted to remain anonymous
A ticket-holder has claimed and been paid the 28.5M EuroMillions jackpot that was won in the UK on Friday 14th August. It's time the lottery needs to stop releasing a person name and picture when a big win is won!
More bad news for the folks who oppose state lottery privacy laws. Besides the half dozen states that have privacy laws on the books, there are a number of other states where winners can remain anonymous by establishing a TRUST. One of the states that already allows winners to remain anonymous via trust, just happens to be TEXAS: http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Trust-keeps-24-million-jackpot-winner-anonymous-3848371.php

Follow-up: Would you take MORE money to NOT remain anonymous?
Coin Toss had a good idea for a follow-up to my last poll. Let's assume that all lotteries already allow you to remain anonymous when collecting your winnings, even for multi-million dollar jackpots. However, as an incentive to subject yourself to the sort of publicity that the lotteries prefer, they're willing to offer you more money on top of the amount you've already won. Would you go for it, or would you be content to stay in the shadows with your advertised winnings?

If you win and you plan to remain anonymous: You do know...
lets say you win Powerball you havent gone and cash the ticket yet but you call to lottery office to let them know...i dont know about cell phones but you do know that there are people who listen to the state/countrys phone calls and they are not the government [who knows cell phones too]...why??? because is like computer hacking, if they listen to phone calls they can know a lot about people and about people's secrets...when you call the state lottery and tell them you have the winning ticket,

...the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.
The above was in a state lottery press release. This is what I like about Australian state lotteries, winners can remain anonymous. I think it is madness for US lotteries to require winners to go public, in many cases it has negative consequences for the winners.
