Anonymous winner in South Carolina?!?!?
I thought that only Delaware permits winners to remain anonymous. But on the Powerball website, it says Anonymous for the South Carolina winner. But in most states, the only way to remain anonymous is through a trust. Is it fair for the other Powerball winners who are hounded by the press for someone else from a state other than Delaware to be anonymous?

Remaining anonymous if you win jackpot?
After doing lot of search, I found that only few states allow winner to remain anonymous. But it is wise to remain anonymous (in my opinion and also after reading lot of stories). I have read about forming a trust (in which all 3 parties are you) and which can claim prize on your behalf. What are the options that come to mind of LP members about how to remain anonymous?

If you want to remain anonymous, go to a state where you can be anonymous. California will NOT allow their winners to remain anonymous. Like most states, California jackpot winners are public information. If anonymity was allowed in California, half of the jackpot winners would have remained anonymous. You can form a trust in Ohio, New Hampshire, and Louisiana if you win the jackpot there.You can be anonymous in Delaware as well without the trust (That's what makes Delaware special.)Someone said in an earlier post that you can be anonymous in Maryland. You could set up a trust but it totally depends on which state you win it in if you can be anonymous. If you win a $240 million jackpot in Pennsylvania, you will NOT be anonymous. If you win it in Delaware, then you can be anonymous, because Delaware state law allows it. If you win it in Ohio, New Hampshire, or Louisiana, then yes, you could become anonymous ONLY IF you form a trust.
