Texas $100 game
It's the nature of the beast. TX lottery makes over 8 bill in total sales. As long as people keep spending, the prices you pay will keep going up. It's a side of the current economic situation that people don't like to talk about. Hence, the moves by the gov. And then there's also the psychology of today. Many have very little savings, spend more than they have, and don't care either. Hence, a $100 scratcher. Exploitation perhaps? But it's legal. It's entertainment, a luxury, not a necessity. Yo

Mega Millions Just The Jackpot
In my state the lottery commission offers an alternative to the regular $2 Mega Millions ticket. It's called Just The Jackpot . (I'll call it JTJ for short.) You get two tickets for $3, but you can only win the jackpot. Lower tier prizes are eliminated. Two interesting questions arise: (1) At what Expected Value of the Jackpot does the JTJ offer a better expected value of return per unit bet compared to a $2 regular ticket, and (2) At what Expected Values of the Jackpot do a regular $2 ticket an

Lotto Jackpot Questions
Prior to living Florida I was a resident of The State of New York.
It was quite a few years ago (but I dont think it was more than 10 years ago) that The NY Lottery offered an online game called Sweet Million . It was a 6/40 game with 3,838,383 to 1 odds to win one million dollars provided you matched all six numbers that were drawn. It's hard to find an online game with odds that low to win a million dollars.
Players absolutely hated the game. It had lousy lower tier prizes... the seco

Colorado Lottery Vending Machines Now Require ID Scanned
I'm a regular lottery player and have been living in Colorado for a little while now. I still have my Oregon ID card (state issued ID, not a drivers license). I don't drive so I haven't been in a hurry to get a Colorado ID since my Oregon ID doesn't expire for almost 10 years.
Anyway, I found out today while trying to buy lottery tickets at my usual vending machine (at Safeway) that they now require you to scan your state issued ID in order to use the vending machine. It scans in the same pl

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
Selling lottery tickets across the entire USA is a massive business. It's a multi-Billion dollar business. Corporations like AT T, Exxon/Mobil, NetFlix and IBM are multi-billion dollar enterprises. So lottery ticket sales is huge.
That means the people who run the states lottery games are managing an extremely vital not to mention a huge source of revenue for the states, and they know many things about managing that business that most players never even think about or realize.
One thing

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Hi TH19940305 ........ good for you getting $100 on the new ticket. I see someone just got 1M .......... they might putting out some winners - finally !
The game has MANY duds to play out .... with a 1.6B bank of tickets to the game, that's a bunch.
I see GRL has a few $1M winners. I played the heck out of it when it came out .... don't think I hit anything over $50 ... GRL is a weird game .... lotsa big wins ....... according to several ILR's over the past months sales have been slow.

Anyone here an Idaho Scratch off player?
Hi LS, when I read your initial post I originally thought the toss scenario was unlikely, esp as it's a crossword so with so many words hitting it would become very apparent to the player that they have a winning ticket. I did look at it on the Idaho Lottery website and saw there was a spot to match a symbol for a win and wondered if that could be involved, perhaps someone forgetting to scratch it or just missing the match.
Now that you mention the faulty scanning app and the retailer self

One ticket sold in Maine wins $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot
They are now the richest and most taxed individual in the state of Maine.
No telling whether they'll want it a for themselves or give a lot to charity, but after taxes they could end up with a bit over $400 million. Their tax bill would be higher but they'd still be about $100 million poorer than Stephen King. I didn't bother asking Google, but I think that King is the richest resident of Maine.
could he/she get away from paying Maine taxes by simply moving to New Hampshire before claim
